About Indian Navy: The Indian Navy is the Naval Branch of the Indian Armed Forces under the supreme commander called President of India. For Skilled (Ammunition Mechanic):

Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized Board.

Two years’ Certificate Course from a recognized Industrial Training Institute under the Craftsmanship Training Scheme in any of the following trades :-

  • Electrician or
  • Electronic Mechanic or
  • Electroplater or
  • Fitter or
  • Instrument Mechanic or
  • Machinist or
  • Mechanic, Communication Equipment Maintenance.

For remaining posts :

  • Matriculation or equivalent from a recognised Institute or Board with knowledge of English.
  • Should have completed Apprenticeship training in the relevant trade for the post. OR
  • Mechanic or equivalent with two years regular service in the appropriate Technical Branch of the Army, Navy and Air Force.

Selection Process of Join Indian Navy Recruitment 2023 :

The selection process includes Screening of Applications/Shortlisting of Applications/Scheme of Written Examination.

Screening of Applications :



  • Indian Navy will not carry out detailed scrutiny of applications received online to allow candidates to appear for the examination.
  • Detailed scrutiny of documents will be carried out at a subsequent stage.

Shortlisting of Applications :

  • All eligible candidates will normally be allowed to appear for selection purpose.
  • Merely fulfilling the basic eligibility criteria does not automatically entitle a person/applicant to be called for the written examination.
  • If the number of applications received is too large in proportion to the vacancies, the Appointing Authority reserves the right to shortlist the applications, as deemed appropriate, and only the shortlisted candidates will then be called for the written test.

Scheme of Written Examination :

  • All eligible candidates will have to appear for the written examination consisting of objective type questions.
  • The test would be in bilingual (English and Hindi) (except for General English).
  • The mode of test will be intimated in the instructions to be forwarded along with e-admit card.
  • The single test paper shall be covering aspects as below: –

General Intelligence and Reasoning : 10 marks
Numerical Aptitude : 10 marks
General English : 10 marks
General Awareness : 20 marks
Awareness in relevant trade/field : 50 marks

Examination Fees :  Candidates (except SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen and women candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs. 205/-

10+2 (B.Tech) Cadet Entry  : Passed Senior Secondary Examination (10+2 Pattern) or its equivalent examination from any Board with at least 70% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and at least 50% marks in English (either in Class X or Class XII).

Note : Candidates who have appeared for JEE (Main) – 2022 exam (for B.E/ B. Tech) are eligible to apply

Selection Process of Indian Navy Recruitment 2023 :

  • The selection process includes the Shortlisting of candidates based on JEE (Main)/Personal Interview.
  • IHQ MoD (Navy) reserves the right to fix the cut off for shortlisting of applications for SSB based on JEE (Main) All India Common Rank List (CRL) – 2022.
  • All candidates are required to fill their Rank as per Common Rank List (CRL) in the application.
  • SSB interviews for shortlisted candidates will be scheduled at Bangalore/ Bhopal/ Kolkata/ Visakhapatnam from March 2023 onwards.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be informed about their selection for SSB interview through e-mail and SMS (provided by candidates in their application form).
  • Candidates are advised not to change their e-mail/ mobile number till selection process is over.
  • Merit list would be prepared based on SSB marks.
  • Candidates declared fit in medical examination would be appointed subject to police verification and character verification & availability of vacancies in the entry.

SSC Officer ( IT):

  • Educational qualification with minimum 60% overall qualifying marks, in either or a combination of the following:
  • MSc/ BE/ B Tech/ M Tech (Computer Science/ Computer Science & Engineering/ Computer Engineering / Information Technology/ Software Systems/ Cyber Security/ System Administration & Networking/ Computer Systems & Networking/ Data Analytics/ Artificial Intelligence) OR
  • MCA with BCA/BSc (Computer Science/ Information Technology).

Note :  Candidates who have graduated/post graduated or in the final year (regular/integrated) with minimum 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA are also eligible to apply.

For NCC Candidates :  NCC ‘C’ certificate holders will be given relaxation of 5% in cut off marks towards shortlisting for SSB subject to meeting the following criteria:-

  • Having NCC ‘C’ certificate of Naval/Army/Air Wing with minimum ‘B’ Grade.
  • Served for not less than two academic years in the Senior Division, Naval/Army/Air Wing of the NCC.
  • ‘C’ certificate should not be dated prior to 01 Jun 2020.

  • The selection process includes Shortlisting of application will be based on normalised marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying degree.
  • Marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying degree will be normalised using formulae mentioned on the website.
  • For candidates who have completed or in final year of BE/B Tech, marks obtained upto fifth semester will be considered for SSB shortlisting.
  • For candidates who have completed MSc/ MCA/ M Tech, marks obtained in all semesters will be considered.
  • For final year students pursuing MSc/ MCA/ M Tech, marks obtained till pre-final year will be considered.

Note :

  • The probation period for SSC (IT) Officers is two years.
  • The probation period will commence from the date of grant of the rank of Sub Lieutenant and will terminate after two years or on completion of initial training (whichever is later).
  • During probation the officers are liable to be discharged in case of unsatisfactory performance at any stage.
  • Only unmarried candidates are eligible for training.
  • Selected candidates will be granted Short Service Commission initially for 10 years extendable by maximum 04 years in 02 terms (02 years + 02 years), subject to service requirement, performance, medical eligibility and willingness of candidates.
