Selection Process for SAIL Careers:

For Sr. Consultant/Consultant/Sr. Medical Officer Posts

  • Eligible candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the Interview.
  • The minimum qualifying marks in the Interview will be 50% for Unreserved/EWS category and 40% for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD category candidates.
  • For final selection, the merit list will be drawn up based on the performance of the candidates in the interview.

For Medical Officer/Medical Officer (OHS)/Assistant Manager (Safety) Posts:

  • The mode of selection for eligible applicants would be through examination, which may be computer based (CBT) followed by an interview.
  • Candidates will be shortlisted for the interview in the ratio of 1:3 in order of merit.
  • For final selection, merit list will be drawn by combining the scores of Online Test (CBT) and Interview with the weightage of 80:20 in that order or as per the merit list of Interview (as the case may be).
  • Examination/CBT: Provisionally eligible candidates will be required to appear for objective test (CBT) at any of the centres decided by the Management.
  • The minimum qualifying marks in the Examination/CBT for unreserved posts/EWS will be determined based on 50 percentile score.
  • For SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD candidates the minimum qualifying marks will be 40 percentile score ONLY with respect to posts reserved for them.

For Operator cum Technician/Mining Foreman/Surveyor/Mining Mate/Attendant cum Technician Posts:

  • Eligible candidates will be required to appear for an examination which may be computer based (CBT), information for which will be provided in the Admit Card.

  • Weightage of marks for Exam (CBT) will be 100%. Skill/Trade Test will only be of qualifying nature.
  • Exam (CBT): Provisionally eligible candidates will be required to appear for objective type test (CBT) consisting of multiple choice questions at any of the centres decided by the Management.

Selection Process for SAIL Careers:

For the post of Manager (E-3), Manager (Projects) (E3), GD Medical Officer (E-1) and Medical Officer (OHS):

  • Candidates may have to appear for Computer Based Test (CBT) depending on the number of applications received.
  • The CBT will be followed by a personal interview with successful candidates in such cases.
  • However, candidates may be required to appear for an interview directly (without CBT) depending on the number of applications received for the post(s) as per the company policy. Based on the marks obtained in CBT, candidates will be shortlisted post-wise/category-wise for Interviews in the ratio of 1:3, i.e. for one post. Three candidates will be called. If the cut-off marks, so arrived at, are obtained by more than one candidate – all of them will be called for an Interview.
  • The same shall be disclosed to the eligible candidates through a call letter, email/SMS, and SAIL website.

Consultant (E-3):

  • The Consultant (E-3) post will be selected through a Personal Interview.

Training: Candidates selected for the above posts will be required to undergo, on the job training, for a period of 2 (two) years, which can be extended for a further period of 2 (two) years, as per requirement.

Salary: 

  • During the training period, they will be paid consolidated pay of Rs.16,100/- for the 1st year and Rs.18,300/- for the 2nd year of training. They will also get for free medical facilities, leave etc. as per rules of the company.
  • On successful completion of training, they shall be considered for regular employment in S-3 grade at Rs. 26600-3%-38920/-(S-3).
  • On regularization, the emoluments will include Basic Pay, Industrial Dearness Allowance, perquisites under the cafeteria approach and other allowances, Contributory Provident Fund, Gratuity as per Gratuity Act, free Medical Treatment for self and family etc. as per rules of the Company. In addition, House Rent Allowance will be paid only where company accommodation is unavailable.

Selection Process of SAIL job vacancy:

  • The selection process will be based on Computer Based Test/Skill Test
  • Eligible candidates will be required to appear in the Computer Based Test (CBT) in Hindi/English.
  • The CBT will consist of 100 Objective type questions in 2 segments i.e 50 on Domain Knowledge & 50 on Aptitude Test.
  • The duration of the CBT would be 90 minutes.
  • The minimum qualifying marks in the CBT will be determined based on 50 percentile score for unreserved/EWS posts & 40 percentile score for posts reserved for SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy Layer)/PwBDs.
  • The qualifying marks will be calculated separately for each post/discipline.
  • Candidates who qualify in the CBT for the above posts will be shortlisted for skill test in order of merit, at the ratio of 1:3 for each post/discipline. If the cut-off marks so arrived are obtained by more than one candidate, all
    of them will be called for the skill test.
  • Skill Test will only be of qualifying in nature. For final selection, weightage of marks of the CBT will be 100%.

Note:

  • Candidates will be allowed for CBT/Skill Test on production of call letter / admit card, one Govt approved photo identity proof and after undergoing Biometric authentication at venue.
  • Date, Time & Test Venue for Computer Based Test (CBT) / Skill Test will be intimated to eligible candidates through Admit Card / Call Letter and information shall be shared through E-mail/SMS and SAIL website.

Selection Process of SAIL job vacancy:

  • The selection process will be based on a Test/Interview.
  • Eligible applicants will be required to appear for an Interview for the post of Consultant.
  • Eligible candidates for other posts will be required to appear for a Computer Based Test (CBT).
  • Based on marks secured in the CBT, candidates will be shortlisted post-category-wise for interview/skill test/trade test in the ratio of 1:3 in order of merit.
  • If the cut-off marks arrived at are obtained by more than one candidate – all of them will be called for an Interview/Skill Test /Trade Test (as applicable).
  • In the case of an Interview (for Executive category posts only), the weightage ascribed to different components of the selection process, i.e., CBT and Interview, will be 80:20.
  • Skill Test / Trade Test (for Non-executive posts) will be qualifying.
