Educational Qualification:
Junior Research Fellow:
Geophysics/Applied Geophysics/Geology/Applied Geology: M. Tech or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% marks (average of all semesters/years) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on a 10-point scale/M.Sc or equivalent degree with a minimum of 65% marks (average of all semesters/years) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.84 on a 10 Point scale in Geophysics or Applied Geophysics or Geology or Applied Geology
Physics/Mathematics: M.Tech or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% marks (average of all semesters/years) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on a 10 Point scale/M.Sc. or equivalent degree with a minimum of 65% marks (average of all semesters/years) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.84 on a 10 Point in Physics or Mathematics
Marine Biology/Marine Geophysics: M. Research Associate:
Physical Oceanography:
- Ph.D. in Oceanography/Physical Oceanography/Meteorology or related discipline focussing on research related to Physical Oceanography. OR
- Three years of research, teaching, design and development experience after M.E or M.Tech in Oceanography/Physical Oceanography/Meteorology or related discipline with an aggregate minimum of 60% (average of all semesters/years) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on a 10 point scale and at least one research paper in a Science Citation Indexed (SCI) Journal.
Atmospheric Science:
- PhD in Atmospheric Science or Meteorology or related discipline focussing on research related to Atmospheric Science. OR
- Three years of research, teaching, design and development experience after M.E or M.Tech. in Atmospheric Science or Meteorology or related discipline with an aggregate minimum of 60% (average of all semesters/years) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on a 10 point scale and at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) Journal.
Duration:
- Junior Research Fellows & Research Associates will be engaged initially for one year and is extendable for further periods based on an assessment of their work and the requirements of the project.
- The maximum period of engagement of Junior Research Fellow shall not exceed five years.
For the posts of JRF, applicants should also have qualified one of the following:
- National Eligibility Test-CSIR- UGC NET includes a lectureship (assistant professorship).
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
- National Level Examinations conducted by Central government departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc
Age Limit (As on 07 October 2024):
- Junior Research Fellow (JRF): 28 years
- Research Associate: 35 years
Age Relaxation:
- The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years in case of SC/ST and 3 years in case of OBC-NCL candidates
- Serving Central Govt. Employees, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities etc. are eligible for upper age relaxation as per Govt. of India rules/orders
Salary Details:
- Junior Research Fellow (JRF):
- 1st & 2nd year: Rs. 37,000/- + HRA
- For the subsequent years: Rs. 42,000/- + HRA
- Research Associate:
- 1st year: Rs. 58,000/- + HRA
- 2nd year: Rs. 61,000/- + HRA

Selection Process for ISRO Jobs:
- The selection will be based on the performance in personal interviews only.
- Shortlisting of candidates will be done based on academic records and/or written tests (if required) for the personal interview.
