SSC CHSL Exam 2025 โ€“ The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) announced the Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) Examination 2025 for Group-C posts like Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Data Entry Operator (DEO)/DEO Grade โ€˜Aโ€™. There are a total of 3131 vacancies available for these posts. Candidates with 12th pass qualifications can apply for these posts. SSC CHSL Recruitment โ€“ Detailed Eligibility:

Educational Qualification:

  • For Data Entry Operator (DEO)/ DEO Grade โ€˜Aโ€™ in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and the Ministry of Culture:ย 12th Standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognised Board or equivalent.
  • For LDC/JSA and DEO/DEO Grade โ€˜Aโ€™ (except DEOs in the Department/ Ministry mentioned above): Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or an equivalent examination from a recognised Board or University

Age Limit(As on 1 January 2026):

  • The age limit for the posts is 18-27 years.
  • Candidates born not before 02-01-1999 and not later than 01-01-2008 are eligible to apply.

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST Candidates โ€“ 5 years
  • OBC candidates โ€“ 3 years
  • PWD candidates (13 years for OBC, 15 years for SC/ST) โ€“ 10 years
  • Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 03 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age.
  • Defence Personnel disabled: 03 โ€“ 08 years.
  • Central Government Civilian Employees: Up to 40 โ€“ 45 years of age.

SSC CHSLย Selection Process:

  • The SSC CHSL Exam (ssc for 12th pass) pattern will consist of a Computer-based Examination (Tier I) and (Tier II).

Scheme of Tier-I Examination:

  • Tier-I Examination will consist of Objective Type, Multiple-choice questions only.
  • The total duration is 60 minutes, and the Maximum mark is 200 for 100 questions.
  • There will be a negative mark of 0.50 for each wrong answer.
  • The questions will be set both in English & Hindi for Part II, III & IV

Scheme of Tier-II Examination:

  • Tier-II will include following four sections
  • Tier II will be conducted in two sessions โ€“ Session โ€“I & Session II, on the same day.
  • Session-I will include conducting of Section-I, Section-II and Section-III.
  • Session-II will include conducting of Section-IV.
  • Session-I will include conducting of Section-I, Section-II and Section-III. Therefore, duration of Session-I will be 2 hours and 15 minutes.
  • Immediately after completion of Section-I, the two Parts of Section-II viz. A (English Language and Comprehension) and B (General Awareness), will start.
  • Section-II will also be for one hour and immediately on completion of one hour, this section will get automatically closed.
  • Section-III viz. Computer Knowledge Test will commence immediately after completion of Section-II and will be for a duration of 15 minutes. On completion of Section-III, Session-I will come to an end

  • Module-I: Mathematical Abilities
  • Module II: Reasoning and General Intelligence.

Section-II:

  • Module-I: English Language and Comprehension
  • Module II: General Awareness

Section-III: Computer Knowledge Test

Section-IV: Skill Test/Typing Test

  • The questions will be set in English, Hindi, and any language the candidate chooses in the application form except for Part-A (i.e. English Language and Comprehension module) in Section-II.
  • There will be a negative mark of 1 for each wrong answer in Section I, Section II and Section III.
  • Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
  • Section-III, i.e. Computer Knowledge Test, is mandatory but qualifying.
  • Section-IV, i.e. Skill Test/ Typing Test:
    • Section-IV will include conducting of Skill Test/ Typing Test in Session-II on the same day.
    • Skill Test/ Typing Test will be of qualifying nature.
    • Skill Test/ Typing Test will be evaluated as per the evaluation guidelines available on the website of the Commission.
    • Errors in the Skill Test will be calculated up to 2 decimal places.
    • Skill Test/ Typing Test will be conducted as per the following scheme:

Skill Test for Data Entry Operator:

Part A โ€“ Skill Test for the post of DEO/ DEO Grade โ€˜Aโ€™ in Department/ Ministry:ย 

  • The โ€˜speed of 15000 (Fifteen Thousand) Key Depressions per hour on the Computer will be adjudged based on the correct entry of words/ key depressions per the given passage.
  • The duration of the Test will be 15 (Fifteen) minutes, and printed matter in English containing about 3700-4000 key depressions will be given to each candidate, who will enter the same information into the computer.

Part B โ€“ Skill Test for the post of DEO/ DEO Grade โ€˜Aโ€™ except in Department/ Ministry:

  • Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (Eight Thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computerโ€Ÿ will be adjudged based on the correct entry of words/ key depressions per the given passage.
  • The test will be 15 (Fifteen) minutes, and printed matter in English containing about 2000-2200 key depressions will be given to each candidate who will enter the same in the computer.

Part C โ€“ Typing Test for other posts, i.e. LDC/ JSA:

  • The medium of the Typing Test will be Hindi or English.
  • The candidates must opt for the medium of Typing Test (i.e., Hindi or English) in the online Application Form.
  • Candidates opting for English medium should have a typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.), and those opting for Hindi medium should have a typing speed of 30 words per minute (w.p.m.).
  • 35 w.p.m. and 30 w.p.m. correspond to about 10500 key depressions per hour and about 9000 key depressions per hour, respectively
