Detailed Eligibility – NTRO Vacancy:

Educational Qualification – NTRO Career:

Scientist-B: General Cenkal Civil Service, Group’A’ (Gazetted, Non-Ministerial)

Electronics & Communications: 

  • First class Master’s Degree of Science in Electronics /Electronics & Computer Science/ Applied Electronics/ Radio Physics & Electronics or Mathematics from a recognised University or institute; OR
  • First class Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in Electronics/ Electronics Communication & instrumentation/Electronics & Communication/ Electronics & Power/ Telecommunication/ Electronics & Telecommunication/Information & Communication/ Communication Optics & Optoelectronics or any other First Class Bachelo/s degree in Engineering or Technology dealing with networks or information security technologies from a recognised University or institute; and Knowledge of Computer Application

Computer Science: 

  • First class Master’s degree of Science in Mathematics from a recognised University or institute; OR
  • First class Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in Computer Science / Computer / Computer Science & information Technology /Information Engineering/ Information Technology or any other First Class Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology dealing with information or data  science technologies from a recognised University or institute; and Knowledge of Computer Application

Geo-Informatics and Remote Sensing:

  • First class Master’s degree of Science in Geo-informatics/ Remote Sensing & Geo-informatics or Mathematics from a recognised University or institute; OR
  • First class Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in Geo-informatics/ Geo-informatics & Remote Sensing from a recognised University or institute; and Knowledge of Computer Application

Note: Must Possess VALID GATE score card (i.e, GAIE- 2022 & 2023) as on the closing date of online application/registration.

Age Limit ( As on 19 January 2024 ) of Scientist Vacancy:

  • Not exceeding 30 Years.

Age Relaxation of NTRO Career: 

  • The upper age limit will be relaxed up to a maximum of five years for Central Government servants by instructions or orders issued by the Central Government.
  • Upto a maximum of five years in the case of candidates belonging to a Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST);
  • Upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Class (OBC) (Non-Creamy Layer) who are eligible to avail reservation applicable to such candidates;
  • Upto a maximum of five years in the case of ex-servicemen, as applicable, as per the extant instructions/order issued by the Government of India as amended occasionally.

Selection Process of NTRO Recruitment:

Scheme of Examination:

  • Eligible registered candidates will be shortlisted based on valid GATE Score (Not GATE Marks or GATE Ranks) in descending order in each category of the respective subject field.
  • The assessment of the shortlisted candidates will be made on the basis of performance in two stages.
  • The first stage would be a Written Examination (CBT Based) consisting of Objective/Multiple Choice Questions and the Second Stage would be an interview.

Written Examination (CBT Based):

  • 100 Questions 200 (2 marks for each question) Two hours (120 minutes)
  • The question papers will be set in English only.
  • There will be four alternatives for the answers to every question.
  • For each question for which the candldate has given a wrong answer, there will be a negative marking of 0.5 mark assigned to that question.
  • lf a question is left blank/unanswered, there will be no penalty for that question

Interview:

  • Maximum Marks: 50 Marks
  • The candidates shortlisted based on their performance in Stage-l shall only be called for Stage-ll. The lnterview will be conducted at New Delhi only.

Selection Procedures:

  • The ratio for shortlisting will be 1:25 (i.e., 25 candidates for every vacancy, subject to the availability of a sufficient number of eligible registered candidates till the ratio of 1:25 is attained.
  • The shortlisted candidates will be required to appear in Stage I (Written Examination), where minimum qualifying marks shall be 50% for the Unreserved category and 40% for reserved categories.
  • The candidates who are shortlisted based on their merit position in Stage-I (Written Examination) and reservation policy shall only be called for Stage-II (interview) in the ratio of 1:4 (No of vacancies: No of candidates).
  • Out of a maximum of 50 marks for Stage II (interview), the minimum qualifying marks will be 50% for the unreserved category and 40% for reserved category candidates.
  • Final selection will be based on meeting the prescribed essential eligibility criteria and based on the GATE Score, marks obtained in Stage I (Written Examination) and Stage II (interview) for each category in the respective subject field.
  • Final merit list of NTRO Vacancy, 50% weightage will be given to the GATE Score, 30% weightage will be given to marks obtained in Stage-I (Written Examination), and 20% weightage will be given to marks obtained in Stage-II (interview)
