IBM Internship 2025 – Software Developer Intern

• Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Required technical and professional expertise:

• Hands-on Core Java, OOAD, Design Patterns, Data Structures and Algorithms. Develop both end-user applications, APIs services and libraries.
• Hands on experience in Product Development projects.
• Experience in Microservices (gRPC/REST), Docker, Kubernetes, IDL (Protobuf, Thrift etc.), NoSQL databases, Big Data is a plus.
• Familiarity with Git and Linux.
• Take ownership in solving problems and delivering results
• Experience writing user stories and breaking stories down into tasks and sub-tasks
• Consistently willing to learn and improve

Preferred technical and professional experience:

• Experience in all areas of application development – Design, Coding, CI/CD pipelines, Unit Test.
• Experience in xUnit testing. Comfort working with mocks, stubs, fakes, etc. and the experience to know when to use each.
• Experience following rigid style guidelines including appropriately documenting code
• Experience working with concurrent programming (multi-thread, -process, or -worker architectures)

Your role and responsibilities:

• Hands-on coding to develop the next-generation data processing platform.
• Actively support the co-creators and contributors using the platform.
• Self-learn any new technology required in platform development.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles
• Familiarity will multiple programming languages (at least one statically typed and one dynamically typed) such as Java and Python
• Knowledge of data structure algorithms and complexity analysis
• Ability to perform code reviews on peer development to ensure they follow best practices and proper style

Required Technical And Professional Expertise:

• Core Java / JEE preferred or any programming language proficiency.
• Strong communication Skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work under pressure to deliver solutions to customers.
• Willingness to work in a customer facing role, on a rotational shift model (including weekends).
• Quick learner and ability to pick up new product skills (Both on-prem and cloud).
• Applicants should have the ability to research and understand technical documentation and understanding of how to apply various technical resources.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and efficiently manage time.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and effectiveness in working with a high performing team.

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience:

• Troubleshooting skills, especially Java code / logs / Database troubleshooting skills (DB2 or Oracle) / Troubleshooting JMS / IBM MQ
• Familiarity with Containers (e.g., Dockers) and Kubernetes. Knowledge on RedHat OpenShift/AWS will be an added advantage.
• Understand and troubleshoot JSON, XML
• Application Servers like WebSphere Liberty, Tomcat, Messaging services IBM MQ, Apache Kafka, ActiveMQ
• Any scripting language skills (e.g., Python, JavaScript)
• Any Database knowledge IBM DB2, Oracle, Cassandra, MongoDB with querying skills (e.g., SQL)
• Basic understanding of Networking Protocols

Responsibilities of a Support Engineer include but are not limited to:

• Providing Technical Support for issues reported by IBM Software customers.
• Analyzing and troubleshooting client issues through emails. phone calls, chat sessions, and remote meetings when necessary
• Managing customer expectations and relationships.
• Setting up test scenarios to replicate problems.
• Composition of knowledge base articles describing issues that have been reported and their resolution.
• Escalating of defects to Internal Development teams for review and administration of communication and fixes between the customer and Development.
• Providing production down weekend/off shift support (on rotation) to customers in system down scenarios.

• Your Role and Responsibilities Logic Design, Analog circuits, Physical Design, Verification, Pre & Post Silicon validation, Custom layout, Memory, EDA, Library characterization, E2E ASIC & SOC design. IBM Systems development lab works on the development of latest generation processors that power the IBM Z Systems (Mainframe) & IBM Power Systems.
• The Enterprise Systems Development team in Bangalore is a microcosm of the global Systems development lab.
• As a member of the ESD team you will have an opportunity to work on the Design/ Verification/ Pre Silicon Validation / Physical design/ EDA / Library/ Memory characterization/ Post silicon validation of the Processor chip that is being developed in the latest technologies of 5nm , 3nm & Beyond.
