UPSC Recruitment 2026: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced a notification for the Anthropologist post. There are two UPSC vacancies available for the posts mentioned above. UPSC Recruitment – Detailed Eligibility:
Educational Qualification for UPSC Jobs:
Anthropologist (Cultural Anthropology Division):
- Educational Qualification: Master’s degree in Anthropology of a recognised University with more than fifty percent papers in Cultural Anthropology in the final year examination.
- Experience: Three years of research experience in Anthropology.
Anthropologist (Physical Anthropology Division):
- Educational Qualification: Master’s degree in Anthropology of a recognised University with more than fifty per cent papers in Physical Anthropology or Biological Anthropology in the final year examination.
- Experience: Three years of research experience in Anthropology.
Age Limit (As on 17 April 2026):
- Anthropologist (Cultural Anthropology Division): 38 years
- Anthropologist (Physical Anthropology Division): 35 years
Age Relaxation:
- The age limit shown against all items is the normal age limit for EWS/URs candidates, and the age is relaxable for SC/ST candidates up to 5 years and up to 3 years for OBC candidates in respect of vacancies reserved for them.
- Age relaxation of 10 years (This implies that SC/ST category candidates would get a maximum of 15 years of age relaxation, including five years for their respective categories.
- Similarly, OBC candidates would get a maximum of up to 13 years, including three years of age relaxation meant for the OBC category)
- In the case of Ex-Servicemen and Commissioned Officers, including ECOs/SSCOs, the upper age limit shall be relaxed by five years.
- Servants up to 5 years as per instructions issued by the Government. Of India from time to time.
- This implies that SC/ST category candidates would get a maximum of 10 years of age relaxation, including five years for their respective categories.
- This relaxation will be admissible to government servants with three years of continuous service in the central government.
Salary Details – Pay Scale:
- Level- 10 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC

Selection Process for UPSC Jobs:
- The category-wise minimum level of suitability in interviews, irrespective of whether the selection is made only by interview or by Recruitment Test followed by interview, will be UR-50 marks, OBC-45 marks, SC/ST/PH-40 marks, out of the total marks of interview being 100.
- In cases where selection is made by Recruitment Test (RT) followed by interview, the candidate will have to achieve minimum level of suitability in their respective category at both stages i.e. ‘Recruitment Test’ as well as ‘Interview’.
- Candidates shortlisted for interview on the basis of the information provided in the online applications submitted by them will be required to send self-attested copies of documents/relevant certificates in support of the claims made in the application as and when demanded by the Commission.

- Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs. 25/-
- There is no fee for SC/ST/PwBD/women candidates in any community.
