It was inspired by and named in honour of Salim Ali, India’s leading pioneer of ornithology. Educational Qualification:
Project Title 1: Conserving the Overlooked Subterranean Cave Habitat: A Sustainability Approach
Project Associate-I:
Ecology:
- Essential: Post-graduate degree with a minimum of 55% marks in life sciences or environmental sciences (Zoology/Wildlife Biology/Wildlife Science/ Conservation Biology/Biodiversity Studies/Forestry/Ecological Sciences/Environmental Studies or any other allied disciplines) from a recognized university.
- Desirable qualification:
- Keen interest in cave and karst conservation and related environmental issues
- Skill in the identification/classification of invertebrates and vertebrates and in sampling and preserving techniques
- Willingness to reside in remote locations with challenging conditions and travel extensively by both road and sea between the islands
- Proficiency in cave exploration and mapping, SRT technique, free climbing, and rock climbing
- Familiarity with data analysis and GIS tools
- Proficiency in Hindi (speaking, reading, and writing).
- Description of Work: The Project Associates will
- Conduct faunal surveys in remote caves with limited resources
- Collect and analyze data on cave and karst ecosystems
- Assist with social surveys to understand local cave and karst conservation perspectives
- Work closely with the forest department and local communities to develop sustainable conservation/management plans, and
- Assist Project Investigators in achieving project goals and other institutional activities.

Geology:
- Essential: Post-graduate degree with a minimum of 55% marks in geology, earth sciences, geomorphology, environmental geography, geosciences, environmental sciences, or any other allied disciplines from a recognized university.

- Skill in identification and characterization of geomorphological features and rock formations; iii) familiarity with geochemistry, including soil and water chemistry and related analytical techniques

- Essential: Ph.D. in life sciences (Zoology/Wildlife Biology/Wildlife Science/Conservation Biology/Biodiversity Studies/Ecological Sciences or any other allied disciplines) from a recognized university.
- Desirable:
- Competence in the identification of wild birds and mammals
- Professional experience in the field of bird/wildlife hazard management issues
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in English and Hindi
- Possession of valid two-wheeler and four-wheeler driving license.
- Description of work: The Research Associate will
- Oversee intensive, round-the-clock field work for collecting data on bird hazards to aircraft in the airport precincts and the surrounding 10 km area
- Interact with airport authorities and field staff.
- Coordinate the field-level data collection and project activities,
- Assist Project Investigators in data analysis, report writing, and other institutional activities.
- Duration: 10 Months
Project Title 3: Bird/Wildlife Hazards To Aircraft In Swami Vivekananda Airport, Raipur, Jharkhand
Project Associate-I:
- Essential: Post-graduate degree (M.Sc.) with a minimum of 55% marks in life sciences or environmental sciences (Zoology/Wildlife Biology/Wildlife Science/ Conservation Biology/Biodiversity Studies/Forestry/Ecological Sciences/Environmental Studies or any other allied disciplines) from a recognized university.
- Desirable:
- Competence in the identification of wild birds and mammals
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in English and Hindi.
- Description of work: The Project Associate will
- Conduct intensive, round-the-clock fieldwork to collect data on bird hazards to aircraft in the airport precincts and the surrounding 10 km area.

- Execute the field-level data collection and project activities

Duration: One Year
Description of Work:
- To collect, organize, curate, and publish data on Indian ornithology
- To update and maintain ornithological data-portal and the interface between ata resources and user community
- To maintain NOD Cell as the single-window clearinghouse for all queries and searches for information on any aspects of Indian ornithology
- To prepare and publish periodical reports on the status and progress of the NOD Cell and other proposed technical serial
- To develop proposals to expand NOD Cell’s activities and raise additional funds to sustain its activities.
Age Limit (As on 10 June 2024): Age shall not exceed 30 years
Age relaxation:
- 03 years for OBC
- 05 years for SC/ST
