About SACON – The Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON) is a national centre for information, education and research in ornithology and natural history in India. It was inspired by and named in honour of Salim Ali, India’s leading pioneer of ornithology. Educational Qualification:
Nature Education and Extension (NEE) Assistant :
Essential Qualifications:
- Graduate in Biological Sciences or equivalent degree from a recognized University
- Good spoken and written Tamil and English knowledge and two years of working experience in a similar post.
Desirable:
- Working knowledge in Computer on MS Office, Canva, In-design, Corel, Photoshop, etc. Working knowledge in Hindi.
- Capable of leading the group on a Nature trail of about 1 km by walking/trekking in the forest area.
- Knowledge of handling the digital camera
Description of work:
- To liaise with schools and colleges for Nature Education activities. To assist the Nature Education Officer and Extension Officer in conducting the Nature Education camps and Extension activities at SACON.
- To assist the Nature Education Officer and Extension Officer in conducting the Salim Ali Nature Trophy competition and Salim Ali Memorial Lecture.
- To prepare documents about the activities conducted by the Nature Education and Extension divisions.
- To prepare PowerPoint and outreach materials according to visitors’ requirements for presentation.
- To maintain the list of visitors to SACON for Nature Education and Extension activities.
- To collect the fees, issue receipts to the visitors and deposit the fee to the finance division on the same day.
- Liaise with the hostel warden/administrative officer and canteen manager for tea, refreshments, and food if the visitors demand them.
- To prepare a write-up for SACON newsletters and Annual Reports. To upload the events on the SACON Website/Social Media handles on time.
Age Limit ( As on 15 May 2024): 28 years
Age Relaxation:
- The upper age limit may be relaxed as per Govt. of India rules
- Five years – scheduled castes/ Scheduled Tribes/ physically handicapped and female applicants
- Three years – OBC (Non-Creamy Layer candidates)
- 35 years for widows, divorced women and women judicially separated from their husbands who are not remarried (Upto 40 years for SC/ST)
Salary Details: Rs. 20,000/- (Consolidated) per month + HRA as applicable

Selection Process for SACON Careers:
- The selection of the candidate(s) will be based on a written test
- The written test date will be intimated to the eligible candidates by e-mail given in the application.
- The written test will be conducted at SACON, Anaikatty, Coimbatore – 641 108, Tamil Nadu.
- All original documents supporting qualifications, age, experience, etc., should be produced on the day of the written test for verification.
- Candidates working in state/central government organizations, public sector undertakings, etc., must submit the original No Objection Certificate (NOC) for verification on the day of the written test.
- Selected candidates must join the position on 01 June 2024 for one year.
- The selected candidates will be provided hostel accommodation at SACON as per the availability on a payment basis.
