NBPGR Careers – Detailed Eligibility:
Educational Qualifications:
Project 1: Mainstreaming sesame germplasm for productivity enhancement and sustainability through genomic-assisted core development and trait discovery (duration of project up to February 2025)
Fieldworker:
- Essential: Graduate degree in Agriculture Science
- Desirable: Experience of work in agricultural fields/farms such as sowing, harvesting, and data recording. Basic knowledge of computer, MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc.)
Project 2: Exploiting Genetic Diversity for improvement of Safflower through Genomics-Assisted Discovery of QTLs/Genes Associated with Agronomic Traits (duration of project up to February 2025)
Junior Research Fellow:
- Essential: Master’s degree in Plant breeding/ Genetics/ Plant Physiology/Agronomy with NET/GATE qualifications (for JRF).
- Desirable: Experience in field crop phenotyping and data analyses using statistical software.
Project Assistant:
- Essential: Graduate degree in Agriculture Science
- Desirable: Experience in field crops/ laboratory work, handling of office documents, basic knowledge of computer and data entry, etc
Project 3: Scheme “Global Centre of Excellence on Millets (Shree Anna) Genetic Resources Management” (Duration of project up to March 2026)
Young Professional-II:
- Essential: Master’s degree (Agriculture) with a minimum 60% marks in Plant breeding/ Genetics/ Plant Physiology/Agronomy
- Desirable: Experience in field crop phenotyping and data analyses using statistical software
Duration: The engagement of Young Professional-II will initially be done for one year, which will be extended till project duration, subject to satisfactory performance
Upper Age limit (as on 05 October 2024):
- Fieldworker/JRF/Project Assistant: Minimum of 21 years and maximum age limit is 35 years for men and 45 years for women.
- Young Professional-II: Minimum 21 years and Maximum 45 years
Age Relaxation: Relaxation in the upper age limit to women (5 years), SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), PwD (10 years) and other eligible categories shall be applicable as per GoI/ICAR rules.
Salary Details:
- Fieldworker: Rs. 18,000/- + 8% HRA
- Junior Research Fellow (JRF):
- 1st & 2nd year: Rs. 31,000/- +8% HRA
- 3rd, 4th & 5th year: Rs. 35,000/- + 8% HRA
- Project Assistant: Rs. 20,000/- + 8% HRA per month
- Young Professional-II: Rs. 42,000/- per month

Selection Process for NBPGR Jobs:
- The selection process will be based on the candidate’s performance in the interview.
- After screening the applications, the eligible candidates will be shortlisted and informed of further details regarding the interview by email only.
- Therefore, shortlisted candidates will be required to carry their recent biodata in the enclosed formats along with original copies of the relevant documents besides the copy of the Thesis
- The selected candidate will be required to produce a medical certificate at the time of joining.
