Candidates with a qualification of B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech/M.Sc/MCA/M.Phil are eligible to apply for the job. Educational Qualification:
Scientist-B (Computer Sciences & IT/Electronics & Communication/Data Science & AI):
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering OR Bachelor in Technology OR Department of Electronics and Accreditation of Computer Courses B-level OR Associate Member of Institute of Engineers OR Graduate Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers OR Master Degree in Science (MSc) OR Master Degree in Computer Application OR Master Degree in Engineering /Technology (ME /M.Tech) OR Master Degree in Philosophy (M Phil)
- In the below mentioned Fields (single or in combination):
- Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, Communication, Computer and Networking Security, Computer Application, Software System, Information Technology, Information Technology Management, Informatics, Computer Management, Cyber law, Electronics, and Instrumentation
Valid Score in the GATE 2024/2025/2026 in the following test paper:
- Computer Sciences and Information Technology – CS (Gate Paper Code)
- Electronics and Communication Engineering – EC (Gate Paper Code)
- Data Science and Artificial Intelligence – DA (Gate Paper Code)
Age Limit (As on 31 March 2026):
- UR / EWS: 30 years
- SC /ST: 35 years
- OBC: 33 years
- PwD: 40 – 45 years
- Service Candidates: 35 – 40 years
- Ex – servicemen: As per Government rules.
Age Relaxation :
- There shall be age relaxation for 5 years for candidates serving in Government Organizations.
- The upper age limit in respect of SC, ST, OBC and PWD and other special categories of persons shall be relaxable in accordance with the orders issued by the Central Government from time to time in this regard.
- The age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC candidate is applicable for the post reserved for them.
- However relaxation in age limit for PWD candidate will be applicable irrespective of the fact whether the post is reserved for them or not, provided the post is identified suitable for them.

Selection Process of NIC Careers:
- Eligible candidates will be shortlisted for interview/interaction, on the basis of GATE Score in the ratio of 1:5 subject to their availability in order of discipline-wise and category-wise merit list.
- If there are more than one candidate with the same GATE Score (while shortlisting for interaction/interview), then all the candidates with the same Score will be shortlisted and called for interaction/interview irrespective of the ratio stated above.
- Equal weightage will be given to GATE 2024, GATE 2025 and GATE 2026 Scores.
- Shortlisted candidates can download their call letters for the Personal Interaction/Interview from the link available on the website (www.recruitment.nic.in)
- Document verification will be conducted before Interaction/Interview.
- Upon completion of document Verification, candidates found eligible only shall be allowed to appear for interaction/interview, subject to fulfillment of all other eligibility criteria prescribed for the post.
- The final selection of the candidates will be purely on the basis of category-wise and discipline-wise merit of aggregate of 60% weightage of gate score and 40% weightage of marks in personal interview/interaction.
