NBRI Recruitment 2024:ย CSIR- National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) has announced notification for theย Jr. Hindi Translator/Jr. Stenographer/Security Officerย posts. NBRI Recruitment โ€“ Detailed Eligibility:

Educational Qualification:

Junior Hindi Translator:

  • Masterโ€™s degree of a recognized university or equivalent in Hindi or English with English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at the Graduate level;ย  ย OR
  • Masterโ€™s degree of a recognized University or equivalent in any subjects other than Hindi or English, with Hindi or English medium and English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at the degree level;ย ย OR
  • Masterโ€™s degree of a recognized University or equivalent, in any subjects other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as a compulsory or elective subjects of either or the two as the medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level;ย  ย AND
  • Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa or two years experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice-versa in Central or State government offices, including Government of India undertaking.

Junior Stenographer (Hindi/English): 10+2/XII or itโ€™s equivalent and proficiency in stenography as per the prescribed norms fixed by DOPT from time to time.

Security Officer:

  • Ex-Servicemen JCO (Subedar or higher rank) OR equivalent rank in other Para-military forces with a minimum of 10 years experience in security.
  • However, the number of years of experience shall be Five years in case of Short Service Commissioned (SSC) Officers and incumbents holding the position of Assistant Commandant in BSF/CRPF/ITBP etc. carrying the pay scale of Rs. 80,00/- to 13,500 (prerevised).
  • In the case of an Inspector from Para Military Forces, the number of years of experience required shall be ten years.

Age Limit(As on 21 October 2024):ย 



  • Junior Hindi Translator: 30 years
  • Junior Stenographer (Hindi/English): 27 years
  • ย Security Officer: 35 years

Age Relaxation:

  • The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years in the case of SC/ST and by 3 years in the case of OBC(NCL) candidates for the posts that are reserved for the respective categories.
  • Relaxation of the upper age limit for Ex-servicemen will be applicable as per GOI rules.
  • SC/ST/OBC(NCL) candidates applying against Unreserved (UR)EWS posts will not be eligible for age relaxation.
  • Relaxation of the upper age limit for Ex-servicemen will be applicable as per GOI rules.

  • Junior Hindi Translator: Rs. 35,400/- to Rs. 1,12,400/-
  • Junior Stenographer (Hindi/English): Rs. 25,500/- to 81,100/-

Selection Process of NBRI Jobs:

Jr. Hindi Translator:

  • The selection will be based on a Written Test โ€“ Two papers (Paper I and Paper II).
  • For these posts, there will be two papers (Paper I and Paper II).
  • The second paper will be evaluated only for those candidates who secure the minimum threshold marks (to be determined by the Selection Committee) in the first paper.
  • The Final merit list will be prepared only based on the marks obtained by the candidates in Paper II.
  • Paper โ€“ I will be OMR Based on a Computer Objective Type Multiple Choice Examination, while Paper IIย will be descriptive.
  • The Objective multiple-choice examination questions will be set in English and Hindi.
  • Standard of exam โ€“ Graduation Level
  • One negative mark for every wrong answer

Paper-I (Time Allotted-1 hour):

Paper-II (Time Allotted-2 hours) :

  • This paper is introduced to assess the writing and translation skills of the candidates which are necessary for this job.
  • The paper would comprise writing of a paragraph in English and Hindi separately; precise writing in English and Hindi and translation from English to Hindi and Hindi to English.
  • The total marks in the paper-II exam would be 300 and the time allotted for this exam would be 2 hours.

For Junior Stenographer:

  • The selection will be based on a Written exam & Proficiency test.

Written Exam:

  • Competitive Written Examination will consist of only one paper
  • Mode of Examination โ€“ OMR-based or Computer based Objective Type Multiple Choice Examination
  • Medium of Questions โ€“ The questions will be set both in English and Hindi except for the questions in the English Language.
  • Standard of Examination โ€“ 10+2/XII
  • Total No. of Questions โ€“ 200
  • Total Time allotted โ€“ Total 2 hours (2 hours and 40 minutes for the candidates eligible for scribe)
  • 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer

Proficiency Test:

  • The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi (as opted by the candidates in the Application Form) at the speed of 80 w.p.m. for the post of Junior Stenographer.

Preparation of Merit list:

  • The proficiency in Stenography will only be qualifying in nature
  • The final merit list will be prepared based on the performance of the candidates in the competitive written examination.
  • The merit list will only comprise of those candidates who have qualified the proficiency test in Stenography

For Security Officer:

  • Candidates applying for the post possessing the existing essentialย  qualifications & age will be invited for a physical and personality assessment test which will qualify in nature
  • Those who qualify in the physical and personality assessment test will be invited for a written test.
  • The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the performance of the candidates in the competitive written examination.
  • Candidates who qualify the physical test will be allowed to appear for the written test.
  • There will be two papers in the written test (Paper-I and Paper-II)
  • Paper-I will be OMR Based or Computer Based Objective Type Multiple Choice Test whereas Paper-II will be subjective in Nature.
  • The threshold marks for Paper-I shall be 30%.
  • The final merit list would be prepared based on the performance of the candidates in Paper-II.
  • Only those names would appear in the merit list who have secured more than the minimum thresholdย  marks as fixed by the Selection Committee.
  • Medium of Exam โ€“ The question papers will be set bilingually (in English and Hindi) and the examination can be taken either in English or Hindi medium.
  • There will be no negative marks in this paper
