Detailed Eligibility of TN Police SBCID Recruitment 2024:

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates should pass 12th with Tamil as one of the Subjects.
  • Must have passed Government Technical Examination in English Shorthand by Higher Grade/ Senior Grade (120 w.p.m).
  • Must have passed Government Technical Examination in English Typewriting by Higher Grade / Senior Grade (45 w.p.m).
  • Working knowledge in Tamil Shorthand is required.
  • Candidates should acquire the certificate course in Computer on Office Automation Course within their probation period.

Age Limit (As on 01 July 2023):

  • Minimum age limit: 18 years
  • Maximum age limit:
    • For Others [i.e. Candidates not belonging to SCs, SC(A)s. STs, MBCs/DNCs. BCs, and BCMs] – 32 years
    • For SC/ ST/ SC(A) – 37 years
    • For BC/ BC(M)/ MBC/ DNC – 34 years

Selection Process of TN Police Junior Reporter Recruitment:

  • Selection will be based on the skill test (Shorthand dictation) and Interview
  • Final selection will be made based on total marks obtained in both the skill test and the interview

Scheme of Skill & Oral Test:

  • Written Examination consists of two parts, viz. Part-‘A’ and Part-‘B’ which will be held for 2 hours 20 min duration
  • Part -A will be held for 60 min duration, and Part – B will be held for 80 min duration
  • The questions in Part ’A will be in Tamil Language.
  • Tamil language examination will be conducted only as a qualifying
    examination for 50 marks in objective type as Part-‘A’. This score will not be considered for ranking.
  • Part-‘B’ skill test will be evaluated only if the candidate secures a minimum qualifying mark of 40% (i.e.,20 Marks) in Part-‘A / failing, which will reject his candidature.
  • The candidates who qualified in the Skill Test alone will be called for
    Interview.
  • The final selection will be based on the combined marks secured by the candidates in the skill Test and the Interview and per the communal roster.

Method of evaluation:

a)Deduction of 1 mark each for the following:- (for both Tamil & English passages)

  • Every omission of a word.
  • A wrong word for a right word.
  • Past tense for present, singular for plural and vice versa

b) Deduction of 1/2 mark each for the following (for both Tamil 8 English passages)



  • For spelling mistakes.

Test Centre: The skill and oral tests will be held only in Chennai.
