Gujarat Metro Rail Recruitment 2023 notification announced for Non‐Executive posts for operations & maintenance. There are 424 vacancies available for the posts. Candidates with the qualification of B.Sc/ M.Sc/ Diploma/ ITI are eligible to apply for the job. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online. Detailed Eligibility:
Education Qualification:
- Station Controller/ Train Operator (SC/TO): Diploma in Engineering in Mechanical / Electrical / Computer Engineering or Electronics/Electronics & Communications.
- Customer Relations Assistant (CRA): Science Graduate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
- Junior Engineer: Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Junior Engineer – Electronics: Diploma in Electronics/Electronics & Communications Engineering.
- Junior Engineer – Mechanical: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Junior Engineer – Civil: Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Maintainer – Fitter: SSLC passes with ITI (Two Years).
- Maintainer – Electrical: SSLC passes with ITI (Two Years) in Electrician.
- Maintainer – Electronics: SSLC pass with ITI (Two Years) Electronics.
Responsibilities:
- Station Controller/Train Operator (SC/TO): Inter‐changeable in nature as per the requirement of Metro rail operations.
- Customer Relations Assistant (CRA): Entails interaction with the commuters at Customer Care Centers (CCC) and catering to their needs & problems, looking after the activities of Metro Stations, including operation control centres on shift duty on a 24 x 7 basis. They will also have career progression towards Station Controller.
- Jr. Engineers: Pertains to the maintenance of various Electrical (Rolling Stock/Lift/Escalators/E&M/Power supply, stores etc.), Electronics (Signaling & Telecom, Automatic Fair Collection, Rolling Stock, SCADA, Stores etc.), & Mechanical systems and train maintenance, handling/operating Tower Wagon /Shunting etc. in shift duty including night shift.
- Maintainer: pertains to the maintenance of various Systems & processes in connection with the operation & maintenance of Metro trains and for installation/ execution of various systems like Lifts, Escalators, Track, Structure, Traction, E&M, Signaling, Telecom/Automatic Fare Collection, Train Coaches, P. Way, works, Stores Depots etc., in shift duty including night shift.
Bond: As the Competent Authority (GMRC) decided, he/she should serve for at least three years, including training.
Training & Contract Period:
- The selected candidate shall be appointed on training cum probation for a period of two years.
- During the Training/probation Period, candidates shall be required to pass various examinations. Based upon the outcome of the examinations and upon successful completion of the probation period, the candidate shall be appointed on Contractual terms for a period of Five years with IDA pay scales for currently advertised vacancies.
Age Limit(As On 10 May 2023):
- Station Controller/ Train Operator (SC/TO), Customer Relations Assistant (CRA), Junior Engineers: 18 – 28 Years
- Maintainers: 18 – 25 years.
Age Relaxation:
- The age limit is relaxable for SC/ST/EWS by 5 years.
- The age limit is relaxable for SEBC / OBC by 3 years.
- The upper age for Ex‐servicemen is upto 45 years.
Salary:
- Station Controller/ Train Operator (SC/TO): Rs. 16,000-18,000/- per month.
- Customer Relations Assistant (CRA): Rs. 14,000- 16,000/- per month.
- Junior Engineer: Rs. 13,000- 15,000/- per month.
- Maintainer: Rs. 12,000-14,000/- per month.

Selection Process:
The selection process will be a test/interview.
- Written Test: 100 marks
- Gujarati Language test: 20 marks.
For Station Controller / Train Operator (SC / TO), Customer Relations Assistant (CRA) & Junior Engineer:
- The duration of the test will be 120 minutes (2 hours) for all parts together.
- The test will consist of 120 questions: Gujarati language (20 questions), Logical ability & Reasoning (20 questions), Quantitative aptitude (20 questions), General English (20 questions) and Technical Knowledge (40 questions).
For Maintainers (MTNR):
- The duration of the test will be 120 minutes.
- The test will consist of 100 questions: Technical Knowledge (40 questions), Gujarati language (20 questions), Logical ability & Reasoning (15 questions), Quantitative aptitude (10 questions) and General English (15 questions).
Notes:
- Negative marks for wrong answers(For each question for which the candidate has given a wrong answer, ‘one-fourth’ of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted).
- Those Candidates who are qualified in tests based on merit shall have to undergo the medical fitness test(s) and meet the medical standards prescribed by GMRC for various posts.
- Candidates will have to visit the GMRCL website (Careers page) to download call letters for the test. Intimation for downloading call letters will also be sent through SMS about ten days in advance of the date of examination.
- Candidates have to submit the examination call letter at the time of the examination.
Application fee:
- General / Un-Reserved (including Ex‐servicemen), candidates are required to pay a Non‐ refundable fee of Rs.600/- (inclusive of bank charges plus service tax).
- SEBC/OBC candidates must pay a non‐refundable fee of Rs. 300/- (including bank charges plus service tax).
- SC/ST/EWS candidates must pay a non‐refundable fee of Rs. 150/- (including bank charges plus service tax).
Notes:
- Payment of fees online mode only.
- The payment can be made by using Debit Cards (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets/UPI.
- On successful completion of the transaction, an e‐Receipt will be generated.
