UPSC Geo-Scientist and Geologist Exam 2024 โ Union Public Service Commission has released the notification for Geo-Scientist and Geologist Exam 2023 for the post of Geologists, Geophysicists, Chemists and Scientist B for 56 vacancies. Candidates with the qualification of Masterโs Degree in the respective disciplines can apply for this examination. The selection process is based on the Preliminary Exam, Main Exam and Personality Test for the applied candidates. Eligible candidates can apply for this post online on or before 10 October 2023. - Masterโs degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo- Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Geochemistry from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or an educational institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956) i.e. recognized University.
Geophysicist Group โAโ in Geological Survey of India and Scientist โBโ (Geophysics) Group โAโ in C.G.W.B. :

Age Limit (as on 01 January 2024):
For Geologist/ Geophysicist/ Chemist/Scientist:
- Candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years
Age Relaxation:
- For SC/ST candidates: 5 years
- For OBC candidates: 3 years
- For PWD candidates: 10 years

Selection Process ofย UPSC Geo-Scientist and Geologist Exam 2024:
The Combined Geo-Scientist Examination will consist of three stages
- Stage-I: Preliminary Examination (Objective type)
- Stage-II: Main Examination (Descriptive Type)
- Stage-III: Personality Test/Interview
Exam Pattern:
Preliminary Examination:
- Preliminary Examination is based on Computer Based Objective Type
- It consists of two Objective Type (multiple choices) questions papers for each stream
- The Question Papers will be set in English only
- The Preliminary exam consists of Paper I & Paper II for 400 Marks
