Selection Process of RRB Technician Recruitment:
- The recruitment process shall comprise of the following stages:
- Computer Based Test
- Document Verification (DV) and
- Medical Examination (ME)
CBT:
- Total Duration: 90 min & Total Questions: 100
- There shall be negative marking @1/3rd for each wrong answer.
- Normalization of marks will be done for CBT held in multiple shifts.
- The minimum pass percentage for eligibility: UR & EWS – 40%, OBC(NCL) – 30%, SC – 30%, ST – 25%.
- These percentages may be relaxed by 2% for PwBD candidates in case of shortage.
- The marks scored in CBT shall be counted for shortlisting of candidates for further stages of this recruitment process.

Document Verification:
- Candidates will be shortlisted for Document Verification based on their marks and merit in the CBT for the respective Pay Levels.
- The number of shortlisted candidates will be equal to the number of vacancies
- In case two or more candidates secure equal marks, their merit position shall be determined by age criteria i.e., the older candidate shall be given higher merit than the younger candidate
- Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing the requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration and final verification of all essential documents and verification of antecedents / character of the candidates.
- In case of any shortfall in empanelment or other exigencies, RRBs reserve the right to utilise the candidates down in the merit list if required, as per merit and options of such candidates. This however, will not confer any vested right on such candida tes to be considered for appointment
- Candidates may please note that RRBs only recommend names of empanelled candidates to the Railway Administrations concerned. The offer of appointment is issued only by the respective Railway Administrations.

CBT – Technician Grade III:
- Mathematics: Number system, BODMAS; Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion; Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.
- General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions, etc.
- General Science: The syllabus under this shall cover Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of 10th standard level
- General awareness on current affairs In Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and other subjects of importance.
CBT – Technician Grade I Signal:
- The syllabus for second-stage CBT as the same as the First Stage CBT and additionally includes the following
- Basic Science and Engineering: The broad topics that are covered under this shall be Engineering Drawing (Projections, Views, Drawing Instruments, Lines, Geometric figures, Symbolic Representation), Units, Measurements, Mass Weight and Density, Work Power and Energy, Speed and Velocity, Heat and Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers and Simple Machines, Occupational Safety and Health, Environment Education, IT Literacy etc.
Application Fees for RRB Technician Recruitment 2026:
- For all candidates: Rs. 500/- (Out of this fee of Rs.500/- an amount of Rs. 400/- shall be refunded duly deducting bank charges as applicable, on appearing in the CBT
- SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/PwBD/Female/Transgender/Minorities/EBC: Rs. 250/- This fee will be refunded duly deducting bank charges as applicable, on appearing in the CBT

- Only ONLINE fee payments through internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI will be accepted.
- The candidate shall bear all applicable service charges.
