Detailed Eligibility for Orissa High Court Jobs:

Educational Qualification:

Assistant Section Officer (Group-B):

Junior Grade Typist/DEO: A candidate must possess a Bachelorโ€™s Degree in any discipline from a recognised University or such other qualification equivalent thereto and typewrite with a minimum speed of 40 words per minute on the Computer and should have passed the PGDCA Course in Computer.

Age Limit ( As of 06 December 2023 ): 21 โ€“ 32 years



Age Relaxation:

  • 05 years for candidates belonging to the categories of SC, ST, SEBC & Women
  • Ten years for PwDs whose permanent disability is not less than 40% and not more than 50%.
  • Persons with disabilities belonging to SC/ST/SEBC categories are eligible for cumulative age relaxation of 15 years, i.e. 10 years under the PwD category and 05 years under the SC/ST/SEBC category.

Salary:ย  Rs.19,900 โ€“ 63,200/- in Level 4

Selection Process for Orissa High Court Jobs:

  • The selection process includes a Preliminary Examination/Test, Main Written Examination, Computer Application Test and Viva-Voce Test.

Preliminary Examination/Test โ€“ 150 marks (2 hours duration)

  • The Preliminary Examination/Test shall consist of a Graduation Course on the subjects of General English, General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude with Multiple Choice Answers
  • A negative marking of 0.5 (half) for each wrong answer.
  • The Court shall call for the candidates for the Main Written Examination who have secured not less than 33% of marks in the Preliminary Examination.

Language Test (Qualifying): 100 Marks (2 hours)

  • This Test, which aims at evaluating a candidateโ€™s knowledge in both English and Odia language, shall be conducted in the following pattern:-
    • An essay in English (containing 300 words): 30 marks
    • Prรฉcis writing: 20 marks
    • Translation of a passage from English to Odia: 20 marks
    • Translation of a passage from Odia to English: 20 marks
    • English Grammar: 10 marks
  • Those candidates who secure at least 33% of marks in the S.C./S.T. category and at least 45% in the other categories in the Language Test shall be called upon to appear in the Computer Application Test.

Computer Application Test: 100 marks (1 hour duration)

  • The computer application test comprises of Theory: 50 marks for Half an hour: Skill Test: 50 marks for Half an hour
  • The Court shall call the candidates for the Computer Test who have secured not less than 40% of marks in aggregate and a minimum of 30% in each paper in the Main Written Examination.
  • The qualifying mark shall be 50% of the total marks in the said paper. Such marks obtained in the Computer Test shall not be considered while drawing the Final Merit List.

Main Written Examination: 100 marks (10 Mins duration)

  • The test will be held for 10 (Ten) minutes, and the candidates must type the contents from a printed matter (approximately 400 words) at a speed of 40ย  words per minute.
  • While assessing the reproduction accuracy, 1 (one) mark will be deducted for each mistake in the typed script. The omission of words shall be treated as a mistake.
  • A candidate whose script reveals more than 20 mistakes will be disqualified.

Viva-voce Test: 20 Marks

  • The marks secured by the candidate(s) in the Viva-Voce Test shall be added to the marks obtained by him/her in the Main Written Examination to arrive at the total marks secured by him/her, and the names of the candidates shall be arranged in order of merit based on such total marks.
  • Provided that the names of the candidates shall not be included in the Merit List unless such candidates secure a minimum of 40% of marks in the Viva-Voce Test.

Application Fees:

  • Candidates belonging to SC, ST and PWD are exempted from payment of examination.
  • For Others 500/- (Rupees five hundred)
