Detailed Eligibility:

Educational Qualification (as on 18.08.2017)

  • Candidates must possess the minimum qualification as listed in the table below from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by Central Government.
  • Candidates should possess certificate in proof of passing the qualifying examination as on 31.07.2017

The minimum Educational Qualifications required for various disciplines are:


  • M.Com. with 55% for SC/ST and 60% for Others from a recognized University or
    Chartered Accountants (ICAI) or
  • Cost and Management Accountant (The Institute of Cost Accountants of India) earlier known as Cost and Wok Accountants (ICWAI) or
  • MBA (Finance) with 55% for SC/ST and 60% for Others from a recognized University


  • Graduate with 55% for SC/ST and 60% for Others in any discipline from a recognized university & has passed 4 Actuarial Papers from Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI) or Institute and Faculty of Actuary, UK (IFoA)

Engineers (Automobile)

  • Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in engineering(4 or 5 Years) with automobile engineering as a subject, with 55% for SC/ST and 60% for Others from a recognized University


  • Graduate in Law with 55% for SC/ST and 60% for Others from a
    recognized University

Medical Officer

  • MBBS


  • Graduate in any stream with 55% for SC/ST and 60% for Others from a recognized University

OICL Oriental Insurance AO Recruitment 2017 Selection Process:

OICL Oriental Insurance Recruitment selection process is based on Phase-I & Phase-II Examination.

Phase-I: Preliminary Examination 

OICL Oriental Insurance Recruitment Preliminary Examination consisting of Objective Tests for 100 marks will be conducted online. This test would be of 1 hour duration consisting of 3 sections as follows:

Candidates have to qualify in each test by securing passing marks to be decided by the Company. Adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by the Company (approximately 20 times the numbers of vacancies subject to availability) will be shortlisted for the Main Examination.

Phase – II: Main Examination

OICL Oriental Insurance Recruitment Main Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 30 marks. Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online. Candidates will have to answer Descriptive Test by typing on the computer. Immediately after completion of Objective Test, Descriptive Test will be administered.

(i) Objective Test: The Objective Test of 2 hours duration consists of 4 sections (Generalists) and 5 sections (Specialists) for total 200 marks.

Descriptive Test:
The Descriptive Test of 30 minutes duration with 30 marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing-10marks & Essay-20 marks). The descriptive test will be in English and will be conducted through on-line mode

Phase – III: Interview

Candidates who have been shortlisted at the end of Phase-II will subsequently be called for an Interview to be conducted by the Company, up to three times the number of vacancies of respective stream/category. Interview will be conducted at select centres. The weightage (ratio) of online Examination and Interview will be 80:20 respectively. The centre, address of the venue, time & date of Interview will be informed to the shortlisted candidates in the call letter.

Final selection:

Final selection would be based on consolidated marks of main examination (objective test) & Interview. The final merit list shall be prepared in descending order of the consolidated marks secured by the candidates. Candidates who fall within the number of vacancies in the merit list shall be considered for appointment.

Application Fees: Rs.100/-(Intimation Charges Only) for SC/ST/PWD & Rs.600/- (Application fee including intimation charges) for all other candidates.
