Education Qualification for NPCIL Careers:

Stipendiary Trainee/ Scientific Assistant (ST/SA) – Diploma



  • Diploma with not less than 60% marks in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering recognized by Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Develop. The diploma in Engineering should be 03 years duration after SSC/HSC. OR
  • Two years Diploma through Lateral entry to 2nd year after HSC approved by AICTE with not less than 60% marks in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
  • Should have had English as one of the subjects either at SSC or at HSC level examination

Note: Candidates who have pursued Diploma through lateral entry to second year Diploma after 10th (SSC) + ITI are not eligible.

Stipendiary Trainee/ Scientific Assistant (ST/SA) – Graduate

  • B.Sc. with a minimum of 60% marks. B.Sc. shall be with Physics as principal and Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Electronics & Computer Science as subsidiary OR with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects with equal weightage. Mathematics at H.S.C. (10+2) level is essential.
  • English as one of the subjects either at SSC or at HSC level examinations is compulsory.

Note: Candidates having Mathematics as the principal subject at B.Sc. are not eligible

Period of Training: The period of training for the post of Category-I Stipendiary Trainees/Scientific Assistant (ST/SA) – Diploma Holders in Engineering /Science Graduates will be 1 and half years (18 months)

Details of Bond to be executed by the Category-I Stipendiary Trainee: Candidates selected for Category-I Stipendiary Trainees/Scientific Assistant (ST/SA) will have to execute a Bond prior to induction in Traineeship programme. The Bond to be executed will be 3 times of training period subject to minimum of 2 years and maximum of 5 years. In the event of breach of Bond, the amount repayable will be equivalent to the Stipend plus Book Allowance actually received.

Selection Process for NPCIL Vacancies:

  • The selection process includes Written Examination and Personal Interview
  • The written examination will be OMR based or Computer Based Test (CBT)

Written Examination:

  • The duration of examination will be of 1.5 Hrs
  • Examination will comprise 50 multiple choice questions (Choice of four answers) and for 100 marks
  • 02 (two) mark will be awarded for each correct answer and 0.5 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
  • Qualifying Standards: General Category (UR) – 40% marks, SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD/EWS – 30% marks
  • The number of candidates shortlisted for Personal Interview would depend upon the number of candidates qualifying for Personal
  • Interview but will not exceed 5 times the number of vacancies notified in all reserved and unreserved categories for each post.

Personal Interview:

  • The shortlisted candidates will undergo for Personal Interview only on successful completion of Document Verification after he declared fit in essential physical standards.
  • Personal Interview will be for 100 marks
  • Qualifying Standards: General Category (UR) – 40% marks, SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD/EWS – 30% marks
  • The Merit List will be prepared based on the marks obtained in written examination and Personal Interview
  • For preparing the Merit List, weightage of 50% will be given to written test and 50% of Personal Interview marks in equal proportion.
  • Exact date, time and venue of the examination will be indicated in the Admit Card

  • Candidates Should have had English as one of the Subjects, atleast at the SSC level Examination.

Maintainer(Fitter/Instrumentation /Electronics Mechanic/ Electrician/ Plumber/Welder/ Carpenter):

Qualification: 

  • SSC with minimum 50% marks in Science subject(s) and Mathematics individually and two years ITI certificate course in Fitter trade/Industrial Electronics / Electronics/ Instrumentation/ Information Technology & Electronics system maintenance / Power electronics systems / Instrument mechanic in power plant/ Electrician trade or ITI in Electrician-Power distribution/ Plumber/Welder/Carpenter.
  • Candidates Should have had English as one of the subjects, atleast at the SSC level Examination.

Note:

  • For Trades for which the duration of the ITI course is less than 02 years, the candidates shall have at least one year of relevant working experience after completion.
  • One year apprenticeship training after completion of 1-yr ITI Course shall be considered as One year experience.

Stipendiary Trainees/Scientific Assistant B – ST/SA -Cat -I:

Science Graduates:

Physics/Chemistry:

Qualification: 

  • B.Sc. with a minimum of 60% marks. B.Sc. shall be with Physics as principal and Chemistry/ Mathematics / Statistics/ Electronics & Computer Science as subsidiary.
  • Chemistry is the principal, and Physics / Mathematics / Statistics/ Electronics & Computer Science is the subsidiary. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are subjects with equal weight.
  • Mathematics at the H.S.C. (10+2) level is essential.
  • Should have had English as one of the subjects either at SSC/SSLC or HSC level examinations.
  • Candidates having Mathematics as the principal subject at B.Sc. are not eligible.

Diploma holders in Engineering:

Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics or Instrumentation:

Qualification:

  • Diploma with not less than 60% marks in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering at a recognised university.
  • The Diploma in Engineering should be three years after AICTE approves SSC/HSC.
  • Two years Diploma through lateral entry to 2nd year after HSC approved by AICTE with not less than 60% marks in Electronics/ Instrumentation.

Scientific Assistant / C (Safety Supervisor):

Qualification:

  • Three-year diploma in engineering in mechanical, electrical, civil chemical, and production after SSC/HSC approved by AICTE with minimum 50% marks.
  • Two years Diploma in Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical and Production through Lateral entry to 2nd year after HSC approved by AICTE with minimum 50% marks.
  • Candidates with Diploma through Lateral entry to 2nd year Diploma after 10th (SSC) + ITI shall not be eligible.
  • Candidate should have four years of work experience after obtaining the requisite qualifications.

Assistant Grade – 1 (HR/F&A/CMM):

Qualification:

  • Any Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized University / Institution.
  • Essential requirements for Skill Test:
  • Typewriting Test.
  • A Speed of 30 words per Minute in English typing on PC.
  • Computer Proficiency Test.
  • Candidates should have passed a Certificate Course of fewer than six months on MS Windows Operating Systems and Desktop Applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), e-mail Management and Internet Surfing.
  • However, certificate courses will not apply to candidates who have studied computer science/computer application as one of the subjects in their school or college curriculum.
