Kerala Agricultural University: The history of agricultural education in Kerala can be traced back to the year 1896 when a scheme was evolved in the erstwhile Travancore State to train a few young men in scientific agriculture at the Demonstration Farm, Karamana, Thiruvananthapuram, presently, the Cropping Systems Research Centre under Kerala Agricultural University. Agriculture was introduced as an optional subject in the middle school classes in the State in 1922 when an Agricultural Middle School was started at Aluva, Ernakulam District. The popularity and usefulness of this school led to the starting of similar institutions at Kottarakkara and Konni in 1928 and 1931, respectively.

Assistant Professor:
- Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture/Horticulture and Master’s Degree in the concerned discipline with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent OGPA from the Universities recognized by KAU.

Notes:
- All the applicants should have qualified NET conducted by ICAR in the concerned discipline.
- Those who have been awarded a Ph D by the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M Phil/Ph D Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time will be exempted from NET.
- Candidates with Ph D in the concerned discipline and Teaching experience will be given due weightage in the selection process.
Tenure: The appointment will be on contract basis and purely provisional for a period on one year or till the joining of a permanent faculty, whichever is earlier.
