Educational Qualification:
Research Associate (RA) – Post Code 01:
- With Doctoral degree: PhD in Seismology/Physics/Geophysics/Earth Sciences/Oceanic Sciences/Marine Sciences/Marine Biology/Atmospheric Sciences/Climate Sciences/Meteorology/Oceanography/Physical Oceanography/Chemical Oceanography/Physics/Mathematics
- With Master’s degree: Master’s degree in Seismology/Physics/Geophysics/Earth Sciences, Oceanography, Atmospheric Science, Ocean Technology or Ocean Engineering and having three years of research, teaching, or design and development experience with at least two research papers in Science Citation Index (SCI) journal.
Research Associate (RA) – Post Code 02:
- With Doctoral degree: PhD in Social Work/Sociology/Gender Studies/Public Health/Disaster Management, or a related field with desirable experience
Tenure: The positions will be initially for one year and extendable for an additional two years subject to satisfactory performance in annual reviews.
Junior Research Fellow (JRF):
- Master’s degree in any branch of Science or Engineering. Candidates must have cleared a national-level PhD eligibility test conducted by CSIR-UGC NET/UGC NET/ICAR NET (Lectureship/Assistant Professorship/Ph.D. Eligibility only)/GATE/JEST.
- Candidates must have studied Physics, Mathematics, or Chemistry as one of the Elective/Subsidiary subjects at the bachelor’s degree level.
- The Candidates should have at least 60% aggregate marks for General and OBC Category (55% for SC, ST, EWS and PwBD-Divyangjan) in the Master’s degree.
Tenure: 04 years (The candidate need to register for Ph.D. within first two years OR as per the guidelines of CSIR/UGC) Tenure may be extended to 5th year, subject to satisfactory performance of the candidate in a review conducted at the end of 4th year.
Age Limit:
- Research Associate (RA): 35 years
- Junior Research Fellow (JRF): 28 years
Age relaxation:
- The upper age limit is relaxed by y 05 years for SC, ST, PwBD, and Women candidates and 03 years for OBC (Non-creamy layer) candidates.
- The persons who have not less than 40% of relevant benchmark disability will only be eligible for claiming age relaxation under PwBD/Divyangjan.

Selection Process of INCOIS Career:
- The shortlisted or screened-in candidates will be called for an interview before the Selection Committee.
- In the event of a large number of applications being received for INCOIS Research Fellow positions, INCOIS may conduct a written test to shortlist the candidates.
- The purpose of this test is only to shortlist the applications for the interview.
- Once the candidate is selected for an interview, the marks obtained in the written test will not be considered for the final selection process.
- Final selection will be done only based on the marks obtained in the Interview
- Communication shall be sent only to the screened- in/shortlisted candidates.
- The call letters for the interview to the short-listed candidates will be sent only by e-mail.
