TNPSC Exams Detailed Eligibility:

Educational Qualification: 

  • Master’s Degree of any University recognised by the UGC in the State or a Degree of equivalent standard in any one of the following subjects with not less than 50% of Marks in the Master’s Degree Examination in any one of the following subjects:- Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Economics, Geography, History, Commerce, Tamil and English, AND
  • B.T. or B.Ed. Degree of any recognized university in the State or a degree of equivalent standard. AND
  • Must have studied Tamil under Part-I or Part-II of the Intermediate or Pre-University course or Higher Secondary Course.

Knowledge in Tamil: Applicants should possess adequate knowledge in Tamil.

Age limit (As on 01.07.2018): 

  • SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs/BC/BCMs & Destitute Widows of all Castes: No Age limit
  • For ‘Others’ – For Open Market: Below 30 Years (Should not have completed)
  • For ‘Others’ – For Teacher employed in recognised Aided Secondary Schools or Higher Secondary Schools: Below 40 Years (Should not have completed)

Relaxations:

  • For Differently Abled Persons: up to 10 years over.

TNPSC Exams DEO – Selection process:
  • The selection will be made in three successive stages viz., (i) Preliminary Examination for selection of applicants for admission to the Main Examination, (ii) Main Examination and (iii) Viva–Voce Test.
  • Final selection will be made on the basis of total marks obtained by the applicants at the Main Written Examination and Oral Test taken together.

Scheme of Examination:

  • Preliminary Exam: General Studies (Degree Standard) – 150 Questions and Aptitude and Mental Ability (SSLC Standard) – 50 Questions
  • Main Examination: Paper – I (Descriptive type): General Studies, Paper – II (Descriptive type): General Studies & Paper – III (Objective type): Education – 200 Items (B.Ed. course syllabus)

  • A degree of any university or institution recognized by the University Grants Commission
