TNPSC Exams Detailed Eligibility:

Translation Officer:

  • B.L. Degree (3 years or 5 years) or its equivalent; OR
  • Second Class Master’s Degree in Tamil; AND
  • Proficiency in Tamil.

Translator:

  • B.L. Degree (3 years or 5 years) or its equivalent; OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree with Tamil in Part-I; and B.G.L. Degree; OR
  • Second Class Master’s Degree in Tamil; AND
  • Proficiency in Tamil.

Knowledge in Tamil: Applicants should possess adequate knowledge in Tamil

Age limit(As on 01.07.2018):

  • SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs, BCMs and Destitute Widows of all Castes: No Maximum Age limit.
  • ‘Others’: 30 Years (Should not have completed)

Relaxations:

  • For Differently Abled Persons: upto 10 years over.
  • Others as per Govt Policy

TNPSC Exams 2018 Selection process:

  • Selection will be made in two successive stages i.e., (i) Written Examination and (ii) Oral
    Test in the form of an interview.
  • Final selection will be made on the basis of total marks obtained by the applicants in the Written Examination and Oral Test taken together.

Written Examination: 

  • Paper – I (Descriptive Type): Translation from English to Tamil – a) State Acts, Bills, Ordinances, Rules and Notifications made thereunder. b) Central Acts, Ordinances, Rules and Notifications made thereunder. c) Legal Terms / Legal maxims.
  • Paper – II (Objective Type) (100 Questions): General Studies (Degree Standard) – 75 Questions and Aptitude and Mental Ability (SSLC Standard) – 25 Questions
  • The questions in Paper I will be set in English only and Paper II will be set in both English and Tamil.

  • A Pass in Higher Secondary Examination.
    and
  • A pass in the two years Diploma course in Horticulture in the Institutions approved by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University or Director of Horticulture and Plantation Crops or from the Gandhigram Rural Institute.

  • The selection process of Assistant Horticultural Officer posts will be based on Written Examination.
  • Based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the Written Examination, the tentative list of eligible candidates for certificate verification will be announced in the Commission’s website.

Written Examination: 

  • Objective Type – 500 marks for 5 hours duration.
  • Paper – I (200 Questions): Diploma Standard (Horticulture)
  • Paper- II (100 Questions): General Studies (HSC Standard) – 75 Questions and Aptitude and Mental Ability Test (SSLC Standard) – 25 Questions
  • The Question paper will be set in both English and Tamil.

  • Selection will be made in two successive stages i.e., (i) Written Examination and (ii) Oral Test in the shape of an interview.
  • Final selection will be made on the basis of the total marks obtained by the applicants at the written examination and oral test taken together subject to the rule of reservation of appointments.
  • Applicant’s appearance in the written examination and oral test is compulsory.

Scheme of Examination:

  • The questions in Paper-I ”Agriculture” will be set in English only and Paper-II ”General Studies” will be set both in English and in Tamil.
