Software Engineer:

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
Typically 2-4 years of experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

Proficiency in software design tools, programming languages, and development frameworks, including strong experience in C, C++, and Python.
Strong understanding of parallel programming concepts, including processes, threads, synchronization, and inter-process communication.
Hands-on experience with Message Passing Interface (MPI) frameworks, particularly Open MPI, for building distributed and high-performance applications.
Experience designing and building scalable software systems across multiple platforms, including distributed and multi-node environments.
Ability to optimize performance in distributed systems, including improving communication efficiency, load balancing, and resource utilization.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Experience working in Linux-based environments, with familiarity in HPC setups and tools such as job schedulers (e.g., SLURM) considered a plus.
Understanding of software testing methodologies, including test planning, debugging, and use of testing tools/frameworks.
Ability to debug and troubleshoot complex distributed or parallel applications.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas, influence decisions, and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities:

Designs limited enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of systems software, including operating systems, compliers, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools.

Executes and writes portions of testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application; identifies and debugs issues with code and suggests changes or improvements.
Participates as a member of project team of other software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions for assigned systems portion or subsystem.
Collaborates and communicates with internal and outsourced development partners regarding software systems design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
