Detailed Eligibility – HCSL Jobs:
Educational Qualification:
Operator (Crane):
- Pass in SSLC and ITI –NTC (National Trade Certificate) in the trade of Fitter/ Machinist / Electrician / Electronic Mechanic.
- Experience: Minimum of 03 years
Operator (MHE & Transporter):
- Pass in SSLC and ITI –NTC (National Trade Certificate) in any trade.
- Experience: Minimum of 03 years
Period of Contract: The above posts are temporary in nature and for a maximum period of five years subject to project requirements and individual performance.
Age Limit (As on 29 December 2025): The upper age limit prescribed for the posts shall not exceed 45 years i.e., applicants should be born on or after 30 December 1980.
Age Relaxation:
- Age relaxation for Ex-servicemen shall be as per the Government of India Guidelines. However, in no case, the age limit after applying all age relaxations shall exceed 50 years
Salary details: Rs. 23,300/-
Note: They will also be eligible for compensation for extra hours of work up to Rs. 5,830/- per month.

Selection Process of HCSL Jobs:
- The method of selection shall include Phase I – Objective type test and Phase II – Practical Test, as detailed under:
- Phase I: Objective-type Test – 30 marks
- Phase II: Practical Test – 70 marks (Based on grades obtained in Practical test)
- Total: 100 marks
- The Objective type test shall be of 35 minutes duration comprising of 30 Multiple Choice Questions and consists of two parts – General (Part A – 10 marks) and Trade related (Part B – 20 marks). Each question carries one mark. There shall be no negative marks.
- Depending upon the number of online applications, the objective type test shall be held at Hooghly CSL or various test centers in Howrah/Kolkata as decided by Hooghly CSL.
- The minimum pass mark each in selection tests for both Phase I Objective test shall be as below: For unreserved candidates– 50 % of the Total Marks of each test
- Candidates who successfully complete the certificate verification shall be shortlisted to attend Practical test. The Practical test shall be held at Hooghly CSL, Howrah.
