TAMILNADU ENGINEERING ADMISSIONS – 2021 (TNEA – 2021)  is a completely online portal for the admission of candidates to the various Engineering Colleges in Tamilnadu. The students can take admission in any one of the Engineering colleges that are listed under the TN Government college and aided colleges. The candidates can check their cut-off with the previous year’s cut-off for various courses at various colleges by visiting – Previous Year’s Cut-off. TNEA 2021.  The students have to apply online. TNEA 2021 Counselling Procedure:

The TNEA 2021 Counselling Procedure for getting admissions in Tamil Nadu Engineering colleges can be summed up into the following important steps as given in the image below. The below-given steps cover the entire counseling process for getting admission to colleges.

TNEA 2021 Online Application Procedure:

The candidates have to apply online for the TNEA through their online portal. The last date to apply online and to upload the certificates is tentatively given as August 28, 2021. The process for applying online includes Registration, Application Filling, Payments, Certificate
& Document uploading, Certificate verification, Choice filling, Allotment, and confirmation are all done online.

The candidates can apply online by themselves using their laptops or desktop or mobile phones. If they find it difficult to do, they can also apply through the help of the TNEA Facilitation Centre (TFC)-2021 at certain colleges that are listed as TFC centers. Students can access those colleges to get all the services that are required. To know the list of colleges that come under the TFC centers, visit – TFC centers for TNEA 2021. The instructions to apply online for TNEA Counseling are given below.

Step 1: Visit the official website of TNEA –

Step 2: There you will have an option as “New Registration”. Click on that.


Step 3: Now you will have to enter the following details. After successfully entering the below data click “save and proceed”. Make sure that you give a mobile number and email id which is active and in use.

  • Name

  • Date of birth
  • Whether +1Passed 
  • Qualifying Examination
  • Password (self-created) and Confirm Password.

Step 4: On clicking on Save and Submit you will now receive an OTP on both your mobile number and email. Enter the OTP received and click on submit.

Step 5: Now you will have to log in to your account using the credentials that you created in the before step.


Step 6: Now you have to enter your details such as personal and academic details and various other details. Click on the “Application” menu available and fill in your details as follows. All the details from now on should be entered with utmost concentration and with no error. If there are any errors in your application, it may also result in the rejection of your application. So Enter the details carefully.

A candidate can apply for a special reservation if they fall under any of the below-mentioned categories.

Scholarship Information

  • Parent’s Occupation.
  • Annual Income.
  • Details about First Graduate.
  • Post Metric Scholarship Details.

School of Study

Here the candidates need to enter details about their school from 6th grade till 12th specifying the year of study, school name, district, and state of the school.

Academic Information

Here the candidates have to enter details of the HSC board examination and SSLC board examination.

This covers most of the steps that require information input. Make sure that you click “Save and Proceed” after entering the details and while moving to the next section.

Step 8: Click on the “Preview” button and check if all the details given are correct and error-free. If there is an error, click the “Back” button to edit the details. Once you are done editing click on the “Save & Continue” button or if all information is correct directly click the “Save & Continue” button. You cannot change the details once you submit your application.

Step 9: Now you have to do the online payment. Use the general procedure to do the online payment. If the payment gets fail, the system will not allow you to initiate the payment again for ten minutes. Payment through Demand Draft (DD) is possible only at the TFC. DD Should be taken in favor of “The Secretary, TNEA” payable at Chennai. The candidate’s payment transactions history is made available in the user’s personal profile settings. You can take a printout of your payment receipt there.

Step 10: After completing the payment successfully your application form will be available for download. Take a printout of your application for future reference. After this, you will have to upload the necessary documents.

Step 11: You have to upload the scanned copies of all the required documents (minimum size 150Kb each and maximum size of 1 MB) for certificates and documents and (minimum size 20Kb to a maximum size of 50Kb) for photo and signature.


Step 12: After uploading all the documents click on the “FreezeUpload”  button. Once you click on that button you will not be able to do any changes. So make sure that you have uploaded all the documents correctly before clicking on the Freeze Upload button. What is the start date of TNEA Counselling 2021 ?

The counselling is an online counselling and start on the following date. Counselling for Special Reservation categories - September 7 to September 11, 2021. Counselling (Academic & Vocational) - September 14 to October 4, 2021.

What is the registration fee for the TNEA 2021 Counselling ?

For General category - Rs. 500. For SC /SCA /ST category belonging to Tamil Nadu - Rs. 250 For each special reservation category - Rs. 100 (Additional)
