Educational Qualifications for Scouts & Guides Quota Posts:
Group ‘C’ Level-2:
- Passed 12th (+2 stage) or its equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate (50% marks in the aggregate will be required for NTPC categories.
- 50% marks are not required for SC/ST/Ex-servicemen candidates and candidates possessing higher qualifications like Graduation/Post Graduation from recognized institutions/universities. (OR)
- Passed Matriculation Plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship/ITI approved by NCVT/SCVT for the posts in Technical Categories
Note: No other qualification, including a Diploma in Engineering, is considered as an alternative higher qualification on the grounds of being a higher qualification in the same line of training.
Erstwhile Group ‘D’ Level 1:
- 10th Pass OR ITI OR equivalent OR National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT from recognized institutions.
Scouts & Guides Qualification:
- A President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger OR Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) holder in any section;
- Should have been an active member of a Scouts organisation for the last 5 years.
- Should have attended two events at National level OR All Indian Railways’ level AND two events at State level

Selection Process for South Western Railway Careers:
- The selection process will be based on the Written Test & Marks on certificates
- Selection will be conducted separately for Level-2 and Level-1.

- Written Test: 60 Marks

Detailed Eligibility for South Western Railway Careers:
Educational Qualifications for Sports Quota Posts:
Level-5:
- Graduation in any discipline or equivalent from a recognised University
Level-4:
- Graduation in any discipline or equivalent from a recognised University OR
- Pass in 1st Year B.Sc. (Physics) or a pass in 12th (+2 stage) in Higher Secondary in Science (Physics or Maths) from a recognised institution OR
- 12th (+2 Stage) or equivalent examination from a recognised Board/University and for the skill test prescribed dictation speed of 80 words per minute duration time 10 minutes and transcription time is 50 minutes (English) and 65 minutes (Hindi)
Level-3/2:
- Passed 12th (+2 stage) or its equivalent examination for Non-Technical posts & Educational Qualification must be from Recognized Institution OR
- Matriculation Plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship/ITI approved by NCVT/SCVT from a recognised institution (Diploma in Engineering is not considered as an alternative higher qualification. Act Apprenticeship/ITI is the only qualification and no other qualification including Diploma in Engineering is accepted as an alternative qualification on the ground of being a higher qualification in the same line of training). The training period for the selected candidates will be as per extant rules OR
- 10th Standard from a recognised institution (In case, the candidates considered on 10th Standard passed qualification to the post of Skilled Artisan, such sports quota appointees will be directed for training for a period of THREE YEARS.
Level-1:
- Passed 10th or its equivalent examination from a recognised institution.
Sports Achievements:
- The sports certificates of sportspersons as on the date of issue of notification achieved on or after 01.04.2023 shall only be considered for appointment.
- For this purpose, concluding day of the championship shall be taken into account.
- The sportsperson shall be an active player. Further, activeness in sports will be adjudged as per his/her performance during the trials
Age Limit (As on 01 January 2026): The candidates should be between 18 and 25 years (Born between – 02.01.2001 To 01.01.2008 (both days inclusive))
Age Relaxation: No age relaxation (upper or lower) shall be permissible

Selection Process for South Western Railway Careers:
- The recruitment will be based on performance during trials, assessment of sports achievements & educational qualifications.
- The candidates who are found FIT in trials only will be considered for next stage of recruitment process.
- For this Recruitment, all eligible candidates will be called for the trials.
- Trials of the eligible candidates shall be conducted to assess the sports performance and suitability.
- The dates for trials will be notified later and published in the South Western Railway websites and will be held at Hubballi/Bengaluru/Mysuru or at any other notified places as decided by the Administration.
- Candidates should note that they are required to produce the originals of all documents enclosed with applications pertaining to educational qualification, caste, sports achievements, date of birth, minority income certificate and proof of identity viz. PAN card, Aadhar Card, Driving Licence etc. on the day of document verification and on the day of trials.
