Educational Qualification:
Student Counselor:
- Masterโs Degree in Psychology / Clinical Psychology / Social Psychology with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade point average with six years of relevant experience.
- For applicants with a PhD degree in the relevant discipline, the duration of PhD up to three years will be counted towards experience.
- Desirable Qualification:
- At least 4 years of experience working as a counsellor/psychologist in an academic or medical institute.
- At least 3 years of experience in psychological counselling of young adults living in a fully residential campus of an academic institution of repute.
Jr. Mechanic:
- 3-year diploma in Electrical Engineering/ Electronics & Communication Engineering/ Electrical & Telecommunication Engineering/ Electrical & Electronics Engineering/ Instrumentation Technology with two years of relevant experience after the diploma in handling and testing of electronics lab equipment, soldering, testing and fabrication of electronic circuit boards or handling of electrical machines, MCC/PCC, power distribution board OR
- ITI in Electrician/ Electronics Mechanic trade with 5 years of relevant experience after the ITI certificate in handling and testing of electronics lab equipment, soldering, testing and fabrication of electronic circuit boards or handling of electrical machines, MCC/PCC, power distribution board
Technical Officer (Scale I):
- B.E./B. Tech in Safety & Fire Engineering with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade point average with relevant experience of six years, out of which three years should be at Pay Level 7 (44900-142400) or one year should be at Pay Level 8 (47600-151100). OR
- B. E./B. Tech in Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering and M.E./ M.Tech in Industrial Safety with minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade point average with four years of relevant experience.
- Experience in handling various safety related assignments in a Govt. or reputed organization.
- Knowledge of relevant safety codes of practice and national statutes.
- Desirable: Working experience of safety management, laboratory safety or industrial safety in a reputed, multi-disciplinary academic institution/Industry
Jr. Mechanic (BACKLOG VACANCY):
- 3-year diploma in Engineering in Mechanical/ Instrumentation Engineering with relevant experience of two years after the diploma. OR
- ITI in Machinist/ Fitter/ Instrument Mechanic/ Electrician trade with at least 5 years of relevant industrial/ laboratory experience after the ITI certificate.
Jr. Mechanic:
- ITI in Machinist/ Fitter/ Welder/ Turner/ Mechanic Machine Tool Maintenance trade with at least 5 years of Industrial/ laboratory experience after the ITI certificate.
- Desirable: Experience (academic or industrial) in fabrication processes and assembly. Basic knowledge of electrical maintenance.
Jr. Mechanic (Civil Engg.):
- 3-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering/ Electrical and Electronics/ Mechanical in appropriate discipline with relevant experience of two years after the diploma. OR
- ITI in Electrical Engineering/ Industrial Automation/ Mechanical Engineering trade with relevant experience of five years after the ITI certificate. OR
- Bachelorโs degree (other than B.Tech./ B.E.) in Electrical/ Electrical and Electronics/ Mechanical Engineering discipline.
- Desirable Skills:
- 3 years experience in Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance in Government Department/ Autonomous body/ Private Sector Organizations of repute with Automation Industry Environment.
- Desired to have National Council on Vocational Training in Electrical Engineering/ Industrial Automation/ Mechanical Engineering Trade.
Jr. Mechanic (Civil Engg.):
- 3-year Diploma in Civil Engineering/ Instrumentation Engineering/ Electrical and Electronics Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience of two years after the diploma. OR
- ITI in appropriate trade with relevant experience of five years after the ITI certificate. OR
- Bachelorโs degree (other than B.Tech./ B.E.) in Instrumentation/ Electronics discipline.
- Desirable skills:
- Work experience in fabrication workshop and/ or research and teaching laboratory for at least 5 years.
- Additional knowledge of Instrumentation/ Electronics instruments will be preferred.
Jr. Mechanic (IEOR):
- ITI in Machinist/ Fitter/ Welder/ Grinder/ Turner/ Hydraulics/ Auto Engineering/ CNC Mechanic/ Electrical/ Machine Tool Maintenance/ equivalent trade with at least 5 years of Industrial/ laboraroty experience after the ITI certificate. OR
- 3-year diploma in Electrical Engineering/ Electronics & Communication Engneering/ Electrical & Telecommencation Engineering/ Electrical & Electronics Engineering/ Instrumentation Technology/ Mechanical Engineering with two years of relevant experience after the diploma
Technical Officer (Scale ):
- B.Tech./ B.E. in any discipline or MCA or M.Sc. in Information Technology or Computer Science with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade point average with relevant experience of six years, out of which three years should be at Pay Level 7 (44900-142400) or one year should be at Pay Level 8 (47600-151100) or equivalent or above.
- Desirable: Experience in a technical/scientific post at the specified pay level(s) or equivalent or above, and demonstrated ability in end-to-end IT/Software Project Management including preparation of software requirements, project plans, time estimates and deployment of large and medium scale projects.

Selection Process for IIT Bombay Careers:
Jr. Mechanic :
- The selection process comprises of a written test from which a shortlist [certain multiple of number of advertised posts] shall be drawn from the list of qualified candidates in order of merit.
- A skill (trade/ proficiency) test may be additionally conducted which shall be qualifying in nature.
- Final selection shall be as per the shortlist drawn on the basis of the written test marks.
Student Counselor:
- There shall be a written test for shortlisting, marks of which will not be carried forward for further selection process.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be called for final round of selection process, i.e., interview.
- The final selection will be through an interview.
- On the basis of the performance of candidates in the written test, a shortlist of maximum 5 candidates, in order of merit per number of positions advertised under each category will be drawn, subject to they getting marks above the cut-off as specified below (in case of tie in marks/ score, all the candidates with equal marks may be called for further selection process).
- The cut-off percentage (absolute or normalized basis) for UR & OBC (NCL) category are 60 and 54 respectively.
- Only such shortlisted candidates will be called for final interview.
Technical Officer:
- There shall be a written test for shortlisting, marks of which will not be carried forward for further selection process.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be called for final round of selection process, i.e., interview.
- The final selection will be through interview.
