Detailed Eligibility for High Court of Punjab & Haryana Careers:

Educational Qualification(As on 23 April 2025):

Stenographer Grade III: 



  • The applicant should possess a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science or equivalent thereto from a recognized university and be proficient in computers (Word  Processing and Spread Sheets).
  • Applicant should have passed the matriculation examination with Punjabi as one of the compulsory or elective subjects or any other equivalent examination in Punjabi Language.
  • Applicants who have not passed matriculation with Punjabi as one of the compulsory or elective subjects or any other equivalent examination in Punjabi Language at the matriculation level can apply; however, they would be required to pass the same within the probation period, if selected, failing which their appointment shall stand cancelled.

Age Limit (As on 01 January 2025):

  • Unreserved/General: 18 – 37 Years
  • SC of Punjab: 18 – 42 Years
  • BC/OBC of Punjab: 18 – 42 Years
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities: 18 – 47 Years
  • Ex-servicemen of Punjab: 18 – Number of years in Military service rendered +3 years.
  • Candidates who are already in Service in Govt / Semi /PSU: 18 – 45 Years

Salary Details: The salary, pay allowances etc. of the recommended candidates will be governed as per the latest rules and instructions issued by the Government of Punjab and duly adopted for Subordinate Courts of Punjab from time to time

Selection Process for High Court of Punjab & Haryana Careers:

  • The Candidate must take a Computer Test of 60 marks, comprising 60 objective type multiple choice questions on English Composition and General Knowledge.
  • Each question will carry one mark with no negative marking, and the test will be 1 hour long.
  • The merit of Computer Based Test shall be prepared based on normalized marks (refer to page No. 6 for details on normalization of marks) in case the said test is held in multiple shifts and candidates equivalent to three times the advertised vacancies (in order of merit) would be shortlisted for English Shorthand & Transcription Test and Spreadsheet Test.
  • Suppose two or more candidates have equal marks to the last shortlisted candidate called for the English Shorthand & Transcription and Spreadsheet Test. In that case, all such candidates will also be called for English Shorthand & Transcription and Spreadsheet Test. It is clarified that mere participation in shortlisting Computer Based Test will not give any right to the candidate to participate in English Shorthand & Transcription Test and Spreadsheet Test.
  • Further, it is clarified that the marks obtained by a candidate in a Computer Test will not be counted in determining the final merit
