Detailed Eligibility โ SSC Steno Jobs (Steno Vacancy):
Educational Qualification (as on 01 August 2026):
- Candidates must have passed 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University as on or before the cut-off date i.e. 01.08.2026
Age limit (as on 01 August 2026):
- Stenographer Grade โCโ: 18 to 30 years (candidates born not before 02.08.1996 and not later than 01.08.2008 are eligible to apply)
- Stenographer Grade โDโ: 18 to 27 years (Candidates born not before 02.08.1999 and not later than 01.08.2008are eligible to apply)
Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST โ 5 years
- OBC โ 3 years
- PwD (unreserved) โ 10 years
- PwD (OBC) โ 13 years
- Pwd (SC/ST) โ 15 years
- Ex-Servicemen โ 003 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on 01.08.2026.

Selection Process of SSC Steno Jobs (SSC New Vacancy):
The selection process will be based on a Open Competitive Computer-Based Mode Examination, Skill Test & Document Verification (DV).
Computer-Based Examination:
- Computer-Based Mode Examination (200 Marks) โ 2 Hours
- Question paper will be of Objective Type Multiple Choice only. The questions will be set both in English & Hindi
- There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Computer Based Examination. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
- Minimum qualifying marks in Computer Based Examination: UR: 30%; OBC/EWS: 25%; All Other Categories: 20%
- Based on the marks scored in the Computer Based Examination, candidates will be shortlisted, category-wise, to appear in the Skill Test(s) for the post(s) they have applied for.

English Language & Comprehension: In addition to the testing of candidatesโ understanding of the English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc., his/ her writing ability would also be tested
Skill Test:
- The candidates who are shortlisted in the Computer Based Examination will be required to appear in the Skill Test for Stenography.
- The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi (as opted by the candidates in the online Application Form) at the speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) for the post of Stenographer Grade โCโ and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade โDโ
