About CGCRI: Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CGCRI), originally proposed to be named Central Glass & Silicate Research Institute, is one of the first four laboratories decided to be set up under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, the other three being National Chemical Laboratory, Pune; National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi and Central Fuel Research Institute, Dhanbad. Even though it started functioning in a limited way in 1944, the Institute was formally inaugurated on August 26, 1950.

- B.A – English/Hindi/Economics/History/Sociology/Political Science/Geography/Philosophy/Anthropology/Photography/Public Administration etc. OR
- B.Sc – Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/Zoology/Botany/Microbiology/Computer Science/Statistics/Hotel & Hospitality Management, Catering Technology/Environmental Science/Electronics etc. OR
- B.Com/BBA/BCA/Bachelor of Hotel Management/Entrepreneurship/Business Studies etc. granted by a UGC approved Statutory University/Deemed University in the relevant disciplines.
Desirable Qualification: Certificate in Financial Accounting, Office Procedure, Financial Management, Hindi to English and English to Hindi Translation, Computer Operations/applications, Office Management, Catering Technology, Hospitality Management, Hindi/English Typing, Stenography (Hindi/English) etc.
Fields of training in brief: Hands on training in various Administrative, Financial, Accounting, Rajbhasha related Rules and Regulations, Secretarial Assistance, maintaining of official files & records, registration of dak, Data Entry, Translation (English to Hindi and vice versa) related works, hospitality services in canteen and guest houses and other non-technical activities.
Duration: The duration of the training for all the above area/discipline is one (01) year.

Selection Process of CGCRI Career:
- The candidates as recommended by the Screening Committee will be invited for Trade Test. Those who qualify in the Trade Test will be invited for a competitive written examination. There will be three papers (Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III). Paper-II and Paper-III will be evaluated only for those candidates who secure the minimum threshold marks (to be determined by the Selection Committee) in Paper-I. The final merit list will be prepared only on the basis of the marks obtained by the candidates in Paper-II & Paper-III.
- Mode of Examination: OMR Based or computer Based Objective Type Multiple Choice Examination, Medium of Questions : The questions will e set both in English and Hindi except questions on English Language.
