WIHG: The Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology is an autonomous research organization of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, carrying out advanced research in all aspects of Himalayan Geosciences. It has strong specialization in the areas of Petrology and Geochemistry, Structure and Tectonics, Sedimentology, Quaternary Geology, Geomorphology, Paleoclimatology, Glaciology, Magneto stratigraphy, Biostratigraphy, Paleontology, Environmental Geology, Seismology, GPS, Geophysics and Remote Sensing. The Institute also houses advanced analytical laboratories. To encourage young students/researchers to pursue careers in earth sciences, the institute has a doctoral program and offers research associateships to fresh PhD students. Educational Qualification:
Project Title: โDevelopment and Deployment of an Integrated Operational Warning System (IOWS) in Dhauliganga River basin, Chamoli Uttarakhandโ under the supervision of Dr. Kalachand Sain, Director, WIHG and PI of the project.
Project Scientist-A:
- Essential Qualification: Ph.D. in Earth Sciences/ Geology, Geophysics/ Hydrology/ Environment Sciences/ Atmospheric Sciences/ Remote Sensing and GIS/ Geoinformatics.
- Desirable: Experience in maintaining hydrological, meteorological, geotechnical and geophysical instruments with experience in carrying out fieldwork in the Himalayas. Candidates with relevant publications in the subjects will be given preference.
- Project Tenure: Upto 17 September 2026.
Junior Research Fellow-B:
- Essential Qualification: 1st class M.Sc./ M.Sc.(Tech)/ M.Tech in Geology/Geophysics/ Applied Geology/ Earth Sciences/ Hydrology/ Atmospheric Sciences/ Geoinformatics/ Remote Sensing and GIS/ Environmental Sciences/ Geography.
- Desirable: Experience in fieldwork in the Himalayan region and knowledge of Remote Sensing and GIS.

Project Assistant-C:
- Essential Qualification: B.Sc. in any of the following subjects: Geology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Environmental Science or Computer Science.
- Desirable: Experience in handling and operating analytical instruments in the field and laboratory

Project Title: Term monitoring of Gangotri Glacier, Garhwal-Himalaya, under the supervision of Dr Kalachand Sain, Director-WIHG and PI of the project.
Project Scientist-D:
- Essential Qualification: Ph.D. in Geology, Geophysics or any allied subjects of Geosciences
- Desirable: Experience in Glaciological fieldwork/ survey and/or experience in handling and operating analytical instruments. Candidates with relevant publications in the subject will be given preference.
- Project Tenure: Upto 15 March 2025
