WB Civil Service Admit Card:
The admit card for the preliminary exam is mandatory for the candidates to be allowed to take up the exam. The WB Civil Service Admit Card will be available for download from 6th August 2021. Follow the below steps to download your Preliminary exam admit card.
Step 1: Visit the official website of the Public Service Commission, West Bengal – https://wbpsc.gov.in/admit_card_download.jsp
Step 2: Enter required details such as Enrolment number and Date of Birth or First Name and Date of Birth.
Step 3: Enter any one combination only not both. Click on Search.
Step 4: Your WB Civil Service Admit Card will be available there for download. Take a printout of your admit card.
Note – Calculator, Mobile phone, and other gadgets of communication are strictly banned in the campus of the examination hall. The candidates are asked to follow this strictly.
The selection for West Bengal Civil Service Executive Posts is of two phases.
- Written Exam (Preliminary and Main).
- Personality Test.
A number of candidates who clear the Preliminary Examination will be allowed to take part in the Main Examination and the candidates who clear the Main Examination will be called to appear for the Personality Test.
About Preliminary Examination:
The Preliminary Examination will consist of only one paper – “General Studies”. The paper will be of both Objective MCQ Type and Conventional Type.
The preliminary exam is mainly for the purpose of filtering the candidates for the main exam. The marks obtained in this examination by the candidates will not be considered for final selection.

- English Composition – 25 Marks
- General Science – 25 Marks
- Current events of National & International Importance – 25 Marks
- History of India – 25 Marks
- Geography of India with special reference to West Bengal – 25 Marks
- Indian Polity and Economy – 25 Marks
- Indian National Movement – 25 Marks
- General Mental Ability – 25 Marks
SYLLABUS FOR PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION:
- Idioms and Phrases
- Vocabulary test
- Phrasal Verbs, etc.
General Science: General appreciation and understanding of science.
History: General questions related to social, economic, and political aspects.
Geography: Questions will be majorly from the Physical, Social, and Economic Geography of the country. Higher preference will be given to the main features of Indian Agricultural and Natural Resources with special reference to West Bengal.

- Political System
- Panchayatee Raj
- Community Development
- Planning in India
Indian National Movement: Questions from nature and character of the Nineteenth Century Resurgence, Growth of Nationalism and attainment of Independence.
General Mental Ability: Questions to test the Logical perception, understanding, and natural conclusion
