Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre Recruitment:
Applications are invited from interested Indian Nationals who have qualified for the CSIR-UGC-NET national level examination (SLET/Lectureship is not eligible) and hold a valid JRF Award Letter or GATE with valid scores up to August 2024 for engagement as Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) in Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC), Kolkata. The JRFs joining this Centre will be eligible for registration in the PhD programme of Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) (deemed to be University) subject to fulfilment of HBNI/UGC norms. A Walk-in-interview will be conducted in Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC), Kolkata on 25 April 2024 (Thursday) for the engagement of 1 (one) General Duty Medical Officer (GDMO) on contract (part-time) basis (purely on temporary basis) for a period of two years or till such time the regular Medical Officer resumes duty whichever is earlier. VECC:
The Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC) is a research and development unit of the Department of Atomic Energy. The VECC is located in Kolkata, India and performs research in basic and applied nuclear sciences and the development of the latest nuclear particle accelerators. It has a collaboration with the European Organization for Nuclear Research. The Centre houses a 224 cm cyclotron—the first of its kind in India—which has been operational since 16 June 1977.

General Duty Medical Officer:
- MBBS degree from a recognized University/Institution recognized by Medical Council of India.
- Candidate should possess valid registration from Medical Council of India
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in a reputed hospital with dispensary type of work. Mandatory internship will not be counted as experience
Age Limit (As on 25 April 2024): Not more than 50 years

Education Qualification:
Junior Research Fellow:
- Candidates should have consistently good academic record and should have secured minimum of 55% marks in aggregate in M.Sc. (Physics) [either (3 years B.Sc.+2 years M.Sc.) or (4 years B.Sc.+1 years M.Sc.)] examination from any recognized University/Institute; OR
- Candidates with five years integrated M.Sc. degree should have secured minimum of 55% of marks in aggregate in M.Sc./B.S.-M.S. (Dual Degree) (Physics) from a recognized University; OR
- 4 years B.Sc. (Physics) with 75% in aggregate from a recognized University/Institute;
Areas of Research: Experimental & Theoretical Nuclear Physics, Nuclear Astrophysics, Accelerator Physics, Material Science, Experimental & Theoretical High Energy Nuclear Physics, Many Body Physics, LASER Physics, Quantum Optics and Applied Physics.
Fellowship:
GATE/JEST qualified candidates:
- Fellowship as per DAE guidelines, i.e., Rs. 37,000/- per month for first two years and Rs.42,000/- per month for the remaining three years subject to fulfilling the requirements stipulated by this Centre from time to time.
- Annual contingency including book allowance of Rs.40,000/- per year subject to compliance of guidelines issued by DAE for utilization of grant.
- Reasonable single room accommodation will be provided in the hostel, which is safe and secure in all respects. In the event of any difficulty on the part of this Centre in providing hostel accommodation, HRA at the rate admissible will be paid.
CSIR-UGC-NET qualified candidates:
- In respect of CSIR-UGC-NET qualified JRFs, the fellowship is directly payable to them by UGC and no financial support is extended by VECC.
- Reasonable single room accommodation will be provided in the hostel, which is safe and secure in all respects. In the event of any difficulty on the part of this Centre in providing hostel accommodation, HRA at the rate admissible will be paid by CSIR.
Selection Process of Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre Recruitment:
- The selection process will be based on Interview
- Applications will be scrutinized and suitability of candidates will be decided on the basis of their degree, academic record/CSIR-UGCNET/GATE scores submitted. The cut off scores (CSIR-UGCNET/GATE) to be eligible for direct interview will be decided by VECC.
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview.
- In the event of number of applications being large, VECC will adopt short listing criteria to restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable number by one or more of the following methods in the given sequence:
- Percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination
- CSIR-UGC-NET/GATE score
- The short-listed candidates will be scheduled for an interview for admission to the Ph.D. programme as JRF during 5-7 June, 2024.
- Based on the performance of the candidates in the interview, the selection committee will recommend candidates for admission to the Ph.D. Program
