TNPSC Group 1 Recruitment 2024: Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has announced notification for the Combined Civil Services examination-I (Group-I Services) for the Deputy Collector/Deputy Superintendent of Police/Assistant Commissioner/Deputy Registrar of Co-operative Societies/Assistant Director of Rural Development/District Employment Officer/District Officer posts. There are a total of 90 openings for these posts. Candidates with the qualification of Any degree/B.Com/B.L/M.A/M.Sc can apply for these posts. TNPSC Group I Exam Notification 2024 – TNPSC Jobs:

TNPSC invites online applications from desirous and willing candidates for positions like Deputy Collector/Deputy Superintendent of Police/Assistant Commissioner/Deputy Registrar of Co-operative Societies/Assistant Director of Rural Development/District Employment Officer/District Officer posts. Educational Qualification:

Deputy Collector:

  • Candidates must possess a degree from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or another Educational Institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category-1):

  • Candidates must possess a degree from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or another Educational Institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
  • Other things being equal, candidates with National awards for physical efficiency shall be given preference.

Assistant Commissioner (Commercial Taxes):

  • Candidates must possess a degree from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or another Educational Institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
  • Other things being equal, preference shall be given to candidates as follows
    • First – Candidates who hold both B.Com. degree and B.L. degree, together with a Diploma in Taxation Laws
    • Second – Candidates who hold both B.Com. and B.L. degree
    • Third – Candidates who hold either B.Com. degree or B.L. degree together with a Diploma in Taxation Laws
    • Fourth – Candidates who hold either B.Com. degree or B.L. degree

Deputy Registrar of Co-operative Societies:

  • Candidates must possess a degree from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or another Educational Institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956

Assistant Director of Rural Development:

  • Candidates must possess a degree from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or another Educational Institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956
  • Other things being equal, preference shall be given to candidates possessing any of the following qualifications;
    • Post Graduate Degree in Rural Services of the Gandhigram Rural Institute
    • Post Graduate Degree or Diploma in Extension.
    • Post Graduate Degree or Diploma in Sociology.

District Employment Officer:

  • Candidates must possess a degree from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or another Educational Institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956
  • Other things being equal, preference shall be given to graduates in Economics, Education, Sociology, Statistics, and Psychology, as well as those with a post-graduate diploma in social science and experience in industrial or personnel management or labour welfare.

District Officer (Fire and Rescue Services):



  • Candidates must possess a degree from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or another Educational Institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956

Selection Process for TNPSC Group I Examination:

  • The selection process will be based on written exams and interviews.
  • The Combined Civil Services Examination – I (Group-I Services) comprises two successive stages:
    • Preliminary Examination (Objective Type) for the selection of candidates for Main Examination;
    • The main Examination (Written and Interview) selects candidates for various posts.
  • On-screen certificate verification will be conducted before admission to the Main Written Examination.
  • The Main Examination will consist of a Written Examination and an Interview.
  • The questions on General Studies for Preliminary and Main Written Examination will be set in Tamil and English.

  • Type of Written Examination: Descriptive Type
  • The test will last for three hours for each paper

  • The Main Examination answer sheets of Paper II, Paper III, and Paper IV will be evaluated only if the candidate secures minimum qualifying marks in Paper I.
