Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions – 2021 is a completely online portal for the admission of candidates to the various Engineering Colleges in Tamilnadu. The students can take admission in any one of the Engineering colleges that are listed under the TN Government college and aided colleges. In order to take part in online counselling, the students must know their ranks. The rank list for each student consisting of their rank will be published. What Is TNEA Rank List & Cut-off Mark?
The Rank List which is also referred to as the merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained by the students in the relevant subjects, namely, Maths, Physics, and Chemistry. The marks obtained by the students will be normalized and will be reduced to 200. The subjects and marks for the rank list will be taken as follows:
- Maths – 100
- Physics – 50
- Chemistry–50
Based on this, the overall rank for each student will be prepared. If two or more candidates have the same marks and ranks, then the tie will be broken using certain rules. To know about the tie-breaking rules, visit the official website. The overall rank and community rank for each candidate will be published in the official TNEA Web portal. If the candidates have any difference of opinions on the rank list that was published, then the candidates can address the same within a time period of one week from the publication of the rank list by contacting the office of the Secretary, TNEA at Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai 600025.
How To Download My TNEA Rank List ?
Step 1: Visit the official site for TN engineering counseling.
Step 2: Enter using the login credentials which you used while applying.
Step 3: The TNEA Rank List will be available there for download. Download them for future use.
What To Do After Getting The Rank List ?
After the publication of the rank list, the students can appear for the counselling which will be of ONLINE MODE. The counselling will start for

- Special Reservation categories – September 7 to September 11, 2021.
- Academic & Vocational courses – September 14 till October 4, 2021.
- Supplementary Counseling – October 12 to October 16, 2021.
- SCA to SC counseling – October 18 to October 20, 2021.

After this, the couselling process goes on one by one as mentioned here.The applicants will be categorized based on their rank. Each candidate will be allowed to participate in counselling according to their turn. TNEA 2021 will have four to five rounds of counselling in total. The candidates need login into their TNEA portal by using their credentials which they used while applying to perform the various activities in a particular round of counselling.

I have already paid while applying, should I pay again during counselling ?
Yes, the previous payment for the registration. You will be again asked to pay a particular amount for taking part in the counselling.
I can't find my application number / name in the TNEA Rank List. What should I do now ?
Each candidate will be assigned with a Random Number if their application was found to be valid. Only those random numbers will be there in the rank list. Check for the random number that was assigned to you. If you did not receive your random number, the reason might be your application was invalid.
