SSC Junior Hindi Translator 2023 – Staff Selection Commission invites online job application forms for the post of Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translator and Senior Hindi Translator Examination, 2023. SSC Junior Hindi Translator – Detailed Eligibility:

Educational Qualification:

Junior Hindi Translator/Junior Translation Officer/Junior Translator:

  • Master’s degree from a recognized University in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective 9 subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; or
  • Master’s degree from a recognized University in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the mediumof examination at the degree level; or
  • Master’s degree from a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of an examination at the degree level; or
  • Master’s degree from a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; or
  • Master’s Degree of a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as a medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level and
  • Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa or two years‟ experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Government Office, including Government of India undertaking.

Senior Hindi Translator/Senior Translator:

  • Master’s degree from a recognized University in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; or
  • Master’s degree from a recognized University in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; or
  • Master’s degree from a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; or
  • Master’s degree from a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; or
  • Masters Degree from a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as a medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level and

Selection Process:

  • The selection process will be based on Computer-Based Mode Examination followed by document verification.
  • The written exam can consist of Paper-I and Paper-II and each will carry 200 marks.
  • Based on the performance in Paper-I + Paper-II, candidates will be shortlisted for Document Verification.

SSC JHT Exam Pattern 2023:

Paper-I (Objective Type):

  • Paper-I will be in objective type for 200 Marks for General Hindi/General English with the duration 2 Hrs.
  • Out of the total, General Hindi will be conducted for 100 marks and General English will be conducted for 100 marks.
  • There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I.
  • Marks scored by candidates in the Computer Based Examinations (Paper-I), in case
    conducted in multiple shifts, will be normalized and such normalized scores will be
    used to determine final merit.

SSC JHT  Recruitment (Junior Hindi Translator) Syllabus:

For Paper-I:



  • Paper-I (Computer Based Examination): The questions will be designed to test the
    candidates’ understanding of the languages and literature, correct use of words, phrases  12 and idioms and ability to write the languages correctly, precisely and effectively. The questions will be of degree level.

For Paper-II:

  • This paper will contain two passages for the translation-one passage for translation from Hindi to English and one passage for translation from English to Hindi.
  • An Essay each in Hindi and English, to test the candidates’ translation skills and their ability to write as well as comprehend the two languages correctly, precisely and effectively.
  • The level of the paper will be consistent with the educational qualifications prescribed.

Resolution of Tie Cases:

In case of more than one candidate secures the equal aggregate marks, the tie will be resolved by applying the following methods one after another:

  • Total marks in Paper-II.
  • Total marks in Paper-I.
  • Date of birth, with older candidates, placed higher.
  • Alphabetical order in the names of the candidates.

  • Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Ex-Servicemen (ESM) are exempted from payment of fee
