South Eastern Railway: It is a part of Eastern Railways and one of the 18 railway zones in India. Its headquarters are in West Bengal, Kolkata, India and Garden Reach. South Railway also runs regular electric multiple units services to areas adjacent to Kolkata, Amta, Medinipur, Howrah to Kharagpur, Santragachi to Shalimar, Balasore Rourkela and Tatanagar. Selection Process for Railway Apprentice Recruitment:
- Selection will be based on the merit list prepared (Trade-wise) for all the candidates who apply against the notification in their respective trades.
- The merit list in each trade will be prepared as a percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation with a minimum of 50% (aggregate) marks.
- For the percentage of matriculation, marks obtained by the candidates in all subjects will be reckoned and not based on marks of any subject or group of subjects.
- Shortlisted candidates, thus enlisted in respective trades, will be called for document verification to the extent of 1.5 times the notified vacancies.
- A final merit list will be prepared trade-wise and community-wise, equal to the number of slots in the descending order of the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate.
- Candidates finally enlisted would be subject to document verification of original testimonials and being found fit in the appropriate medical examination as per Medical Proforma.

- Education qualification:
- A University Degree or its equivalent (Level-5)
- 12th (+2 stage) or its equivalent from a recognized Board/University and for the skill test prescribed dictation speed of 80 W.P.M. duration time 10 minutes and transcription time is 50 minutes (English) and 65 minutes(Hindi) for the post of Jr. Stenographer (Level-4 )
Level 3/Level 2:
- Represented the Country in any of the Championships/events in the World Cup (Junior/ Senior Category) World Championships (Junior/ Senior Category) Asian Games (Senior Category) Commonwealth Games (Senior Category) or
