Educational Qualification:
Hindi Officer:
- Master’s Degree from a recognized university in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; OR
- Master’s Degree from a recognized university in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; OR
- Master’s Degree from a recognized university in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; OR
- Master’s Degree from a recognized university in any subject other than Hindi or English, with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; OR
- Master’s Degree from a recognized university in any subject other than Hindi or English with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as a medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level.
Experience:
- Minimum Three years of experience (post qualification) of using/applying terminology (terminological work) in Hindi and translation work from English to Hindi or vice-versa, preferably of technical or scientific literature under Central / State Governments / Autonomous Body / Statutory Organizations / PSUs / Universities OR recognized research or educational institutions; OR
- Minimum THREE years of experience (post qualification) of teaching in Hindi and English or research in Hindi or English under Central / State Governments / Autonomous Bodies/Statutory Organizations /PSUs / Universities OR recognized research or educational institutions.
Contract tenure: The contract shall be for a period two years from the date of engagement, with a provision for further 2 extensions of 6 months each at the sole discretion of the Corporation.

Selection Process of SCI career:
- Candidates will be shortlisted based on the eligibility criteria for Educational Qualification, Age, Experience and any other criteria as mentioned above. In the case of many eligible applications, the Corporation reserves the right to shortlist the number of candidates for Interview out of eligible candidates in a ratio of 1:10 based on higher experience.

- The Personal Interview will be conducted at Shipping House, Nariman Point, Mumbai, in physical mode.

Master Mariner/Chief Engineer:
- Essential Qualification: Candidates should have completed at least 03 years of sea time after obtaining Masters FG COC/MEO Class I COC, out of which at least 02 years of sea time must be in the substantive rank of Master or Chief Engineer. Certificate of Competency must be issued by the Govt. of India
- Desirable qualification: The candidate should have a valid Certificate of Competency (COC).
Duration: There will be a probation period of one year for external candidates, which may be extended as per the rules of the Corporation.
Age Limit(As 0n 1 November 2023): 45 years
Age Relaxation:
- 03 years: OBC-NCL
- 05 years: SC/ST
- 10 years: PwBD candidates

Posting: The selected candidates will be posted in Mumbai or any Regional office. They can be posted or transferred anywhere in India or abroad, depending on the requirements of the Organisation.
Selection Process of SCI career:
- Candidates will be shortlisted based on the Eligibility criteria for Educational Qualification, Age and Experience, based on the data provided in the application form and after preliminary scrutiny of documents submitted along with the application. However, a detailed verification of original documents will be done for the shortlisted candidates before being allowed to participate in the Personal Interview.
- In case of a large number of applications, the Company reserves the right to shortlist the number of candidates for Interview out of eligible candidates based on higher experience, i.e. number of years of sea time in the rank of Master or Chief Engineer. The candidates will be shortlisted in the ratio of 1:10.
- The shortlisted candidates will be informed by e-mail, and the names will also be placed on the SCI’s website.
- The mode of Selection will be Interview Only. The Interview will be conducted physically or via Video Conferencing as per the requirement of SCI. The candidate’s Experience/Service and Extra Qualifications will also be given weightage.
- The Selection criteria will be as follows:
- Interview: 25 Marks
- Experience/Service: 10 Marks
- Extra Qualifications: 05 Marks
- Total: 40 Marks
- Interview (25 marks): The category-wise minimum level of suitability in an interview for final selection would be
- 50% marks to be obtained in interviews by Unreserved (GEN) and EWS candidates
- 45% marks to be obtained in Interviews for OBC-NCL candidates
- 40% marks to be obtained in interviews for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.
- Experience/Service (10 Marks): For calculation of marks for Experience/Service, 1.5 Marks will be given for every completed year of sailing in the rank of Master/Chief Engineer with a maximum marks of 10.
- Extra Qualifications (05 Marks):
- Extra Masters, Extra First Class: 5 Marks
- Maritime Law, FICS, MICS, MBA or Equivalent: 4 Marks
- NMIS PG Diploma, FNMIS, LLM or Equivalent: 3 Marks
- Recognized courses related to Shipping of not less than 06 months, LLB, Post Graduate Degree in any other Discipline: 2 Marks
- The final selection of the candidates will be based on marks scored by the candidates in the Interview, Experience and Extra Qualifications taken together.
