Detailed Eligibility Criteria:
Educational Qualifications:ย
Parliamentary Interpreter: Candidates should complete masterโs Degree in English/Hindi with Hindi/English as a compulsory/elective subject at the Degree Level or Masterโs Degree in any other discipline with English and Hindi as compulsory/elective subjects at the Degree Level.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in translation or interpretation work
- Certificate in computer course recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) or National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) or Courses equivalent to โOโ Level in terms of syllabus and duration of course as prescribed by NIELIT.
Age Limit (as on 3 April 2023): Maximum โ 35 years.
Age Relaxation:ย
If in service in Government/PSUs:
- SC & ST โ Up to 10 years
- OBC โ Up to 8 years
- GEN/EWS โ Up to 5 years
If not in service in Government/PSUs:
- SC & STโ Up to 5 years
- OBC โ Up to 3 years
- Ex-Servicemen โ Length of Military Service plus 3 years up-to the maximum of 45 years โ GEN/EWS, 48 years โ OBC and 50 years โ SC/ST categories.
- Employees of Lok Sabha Secretariat โ Candidates should complete 3 years continuous regular service in Lok Sabha Secretariat.
- Persons with Disability (PwD) โ Age relaxation of 10 years (15 years for SCs and 13 years for OBCs) in upper age limit is allowed for the Post to persons with (a) Locomotor Disability (OA,OL, OAL, BL).

Selection Process for Parliament of India Recruitment 2023:
The selection process includes Oration Test/Written Test/Simultaneous Interpretation Test/Personal Interview as follows
Oration Test โ Candidates will be subjected to an Oration test which will be of 200 marks. The objective of the Oration Test is to assess fluency,language content, style, pronunciation and accent, material content and voice of the candidates.ย
Written Test: Only those candidates who qualify the oration test will be allowed to appear in the written test. Written test consists of 2 papers.
For Regional Language Interpretersย
- 50 Multiple choice objective type questions each on General Knowledge & Current Affairs, General English and General regional language concerned โ 150 Marks (75 Minutes)
- Translation from concerned language to English of 100 Marks and from English to concerned language of 100 Marks (2 Hours).
For English/Hindi Interpreters
- 50 Multiple choice objective type questions each on General Knowledge & Current Affairs, General English and General Hindi โ 150 Marks (75 Minutes)
- Translation from English to Hindi of 100 Marks and from Hindi to English of 100 Marks (2 Hours).ย
Simultaneous Interpretation Test:
- Candidates who qualify in the written test will be allowed to appear in the Simultaneous Interpretation Test.
- Regional Language Interpreters โ from concerned language to English (5 mins) of 100 Marks and from English to concerned language (5 mins) of 100 Marks.
- English/ Hindi Interpreters โ from English to Hindi (5 mins) of 100 Marks and from Hindi to English (5 mins) of 100 Marks. The performance of the candidates will be assessed under five specific parameters such as Coverage, Accuracy, Style and Diction, Continuity of Interpretation, and Voice, Pronunciation and Accent.ย
- Only those candidates who qualify the Simultaneous Interpretation Test at the requisite standards will be allowed to appear in the Personal Interview.ย
Personal Interview: The personal interview will carry 50 Marks. Candidates will be qualified for Personal Interview based on the requisite standards.Selection will be based on the overall performances of the candidates.
