Scientist-B: General Cenkal Civil Service, Group’A’ (Gazetted, Non-Ministerial)
Electronics & Communications:
- First class Master’s Degree of Science in Electronics /Electronics & Computer Science/ Applied Electronics/ Radio Physics & Electronics or Mathematics from a recognised University or institute; OR
- First class Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in Electronics/ Electronics Communication & instrumentation/Electronics & Communication/ Electronics & Power/ Telecommunication/ Electronics & Telecommunication/Information & Communication/ Communication Optics & Optoelectronics or any other First Class Bachelo/s degree in Engineering or Technology dealing with networks or information security technologies from a recognised University or institute; and Knowledge of Computer Application
Computer Science:
- First class Master’s degree of Science in Mathematics from a recognised University or institute; OR

Age Relaxation of NTRO Career:
- The upper age limit will be relaxed up to a maximum of five years for Central Government servants by instructions or orders issued by the Central Government.
- Upto a maximum of five years in the case of candidates belonging to a Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST);
- Upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Class (OBC) (Non-Creamy Layer) who are eligible to avail reservation applicable to such candidates;
- Upto a maximum of five years in the case of ex-servicemen, as applicable, as per the extant instructions/order issued by the Government of India as amended occasionally.

Selection Process of NTRO Recruitment:
Scheme of Examination:
- Eligible registered candidates will be shortlisted based on valid GATE Score (Not GATE Marks or GATE Ranks) in descending order in each category of the respective subject field.
- The assessment of the shortlisted candidates will be made on the basis of performance in two stages.
- The first stage would be a Written Examination (CBT Based) consisting of Objective/Multiple Choice Questions and the Second Stage would be an interview.
Written Examination (CBT Based):
- 100 Questions 200 (2 marks for each question) Two hours (120 minutes)
- The question papers will be set in English only.
- There will be four alternatives for the answers to every question.
- For each question for which the candldate has given a wrong answer, there will be a negative marking of 0.5 mark assigned to that question.
- lf a question is left blank/unanswered, there will be no penalty for that question
Interview:
- Maximum Marks: 50 Marks
- The candidates shortlisted based on their performance in Stage-l shall only be called for Stage-ll. The lnterview will be conducted at New Delhi only.
Selection Procedures:
- The ratio for shortlisting will be 1:25 (i.e., 25 candidates for every vacancy, subject to the availability of a sufficient number of eligible registered candidates till the ratio of 1:25 is attained.
- The shortlisted candidates will be required to appear in Stage I (Written Examination), where minimum qualifying marks shall be 50% for the Unreserved category and 40% for reserved categories.
- The candidates who are shortlisted based on their merit position in Stage-I (Written Examination) and reservation policy shall only be called for Stage-II (interview) in the ratio of 1:4 (No of vacancies: No of candidates).
- Out of a maximum of 50 marks for Stage II (interview), the minimum qualifying marks will be 50% for the unreserved category and 40% for reserved category candidates.
- Final selection will be based on meeting the prescribed essential eligibility criteria and based on the GATE Score, marks obtained in Stage I (Written Examination) and Stage II (interview) for each category in the respective subject field.
- Final merit list of NTRO Vacancy, 50% weightage will be given to the GATE Score, 30% weightage will be given to marks obtained in Stage-I (Written Examination), and 20% weightage will be given to marks obtained in Stage-II (interview)
