Technical Assistant: 

TA2501: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Technology (at least 3 years full-time or 2 years full-time in case of lateral admission) with minimum 60% marks and 2 years of relevant experience.

TA2503:

  • B.Sc Chemistry or equivalent with minimum 60% marks and 1-year experience in relevant discipline or 1-year full-time professional qualification. OR

  • JSAG25/JSAF25/JSAP25: 10+2/XII or its equivalent and proficiency in computer type speed and in using the computer as per the prescribed norms fixed by DoPT from time to time

Junior Hindi Translator:

Essential:

  • Master’s degree of a recognized university or equivalent in Hindi or English with English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at the degree level; OR
  • Master’s degree in a recognized University or equivalent in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi or English medium and English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at the degree level;  OR
  • Master’s degree of a recognized University or equivalent in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects of either or the two as the medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level;  AND

Age Relaxation: 

  • The upper age limit is relaxable upto 5 years for SC and 3 years for OBC (Non- Creamy layer candidates)
  • Relaxation of upper age limit for Ex-Servicemen will be applicable as per GoI/CSIR orders prevailing in this regard.
  • Age relaxation of 10 years for Unreserved (total 15 years for SCs and 13 years for OBCs in respect of the posts reserved for them) in upper age limit is allowed to persons suffering from following benchmark disabilities as per GoI instructions

Selection Process of NIIST Careers:

Technical Assistant:

  • Candidates who qualify in the Trade Test/Skill Test will be invited for the Competitive Written Examination.
  • The Competitive Written Examination will consist of three papers – Paper I, Paper II, and Paper III.
  • Paper II and Paper III will be evaluated only for candidates who secure the minimum threshold marks (to be determined by the Selection Committee) in Paper I.
  • The final merit list will be prepared solely based on the marks obtained in Paper II and Paper III.
  • The centre for the Competitive Written Examination and Trade/Skill Test will be Thiruvananthapuram only.

Mode of Competitive Written Examination:

  • Mode of Examination: OMR-based or Computer-Based Objective Type Multiple Choice Examination.
  • Medium of Questions: The questions will be set in both English and Hindi, except for the English language section.
  • Standard of Examination: SSC + ITI/XII th Standard
  • Total Number of Questions: 200

Junior Stenographer:

  • A duly constituted Screening Committee will recommend candidates to be called for the Competitive Written Examination and Proficiency Test in Stenography.
  • Selection will be based on the results of an open Competitive Written Examination and the Proficiency Test in Stenography.
  • The Proficiency Test in Stenography will be qualifying in nature, and the final merit list will be prepared based on the candidates’ performance in the Competitive Written Examination.
  • The merit list will include only those candidates who have qualified the Proficiency Test in Stenography.
  • The decision regarding the sequence/order of conducting the Proficiency Test in Stenography followed by the Competitive Written Examination (or vice versa) will be determined by the Selection Committee.
  • The centre for both the Written Examination and Proficiency Test in Stenography will be Thiruvananthapuram only.

Mode of Competitive Written Examination:

  • Mode of Examination: OMR-based or Computer-Based Objective Type Multiple Choice Examination.
  • Medium of Questions: The questions will be set in both English and Hindi, except for the English language section.

  • Questions will be set in both English and Hindi, except for the English language section.
  • Paper-II will be evaluated only for candidates who secure the minimum threshold marks in Paper-I, as determined by the Selection Committee.
  • The final merit list will be prepared only based on the marks obtained in Paper-II.
  • The Proficiency Test in Computer Typing Speed and Computer Usage is qualifying in nature.
  • Candidates can choose either Hindi or English for the Typing Test while filling out the application form. This choice is final and cannot be changed later.
  • The merit list will include only those candidates who qualify the Proficiency Test in Computer Typing Speed.
  • The Competitive Written Examination and Proficiency Test will be conducted only in Thiruvananthapuram.
