MDS Apprentice – Detailed Eligibility:
Education Qualification:
Diploma Apprentices:
- A Diploma in Engineering or technology granted by a State Council or Board of Technical Education established by a State Government in relevant discipline
- Civil Engg.
- Computer Engg.
- Electrical Engg.
- Mechanical Engg.
- Electronics & Telecomm. Engg.
- Shipbuilding Technology or Engineering/Naval Architecture
- A Diploma in Engineering or Technology granted by an recognized University in relevant discipline
- A Diploma in Engineering or Technology granted by an institution recognized by State Government or Central Government as equivalent to above.
Engineering Graduate Apprentices:
- A Degree in Engineering or Technology granted by a Statutory University in relevant discipline.
- A Degree in Engineering or Technology granted by an Institution empowered to grant such degree by an Act of Parliament in relevant discipline
- Civil Engg.
- Computer Engg.
- Electrical Engg.
- Mechanical Engg.
- Electronics & Telecomm. Engg.
- Shipbuilding Technology or Engineering/Naval Architecture
- Graduate examination of Professional bodies recognized by the State Government or Central Government as equivalent to above.
General Graduate Apprentices:
- The degree in B. B. A., B. Com, B. C. A. & B.S.W. granted by a statutory university in relevant discipline / or by an institution empowered to grant such degree by an act of parliament in relevant discipline/graduate examination of professional bodies recognized by the state government or central government as equivalent to above.
Note:
- Diploma / General Graduate / Engineering Graduate Candidate passed their Diploma / Degree course recognized by AICTE or GOI, on or after 01 April 2021 are eligible to apply.
Duration: The duration of Apprenticeship training will be for a period of one year as per Apprenticeship (Amendment) Act 1973
Age Limit (As on 01 March 2025): 18 to 27 Years
Age relaxation: Age relaxation by 5 yrs. for SC/ST, 3 yrs. for OBC-NCL and 10 yrs. for Physically challenged
Stipend:
- Rs. 12300 /- (For Graduate Apprentice) i.e., 7800 (MDL Share) + 4500 (Govt. Share through DBT*)
- Rs. 10900 /- (For Diploma Apprentices) i.e., 6900 (MDL Share) + 4000 (Govt. Share through DBT*) *DBT –Direct Benefit Transfer

Selection Process of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Recruitment:
- Based on Application received from MDL Apprentice portal, candidates will be called for document verification & interview at MDL, as per marks obtained in the qualifying examination, the candidates will be required to furnish documents regarding proof of Date of Birth, Qualification, and Category etc.
- The selection for apprenticeship training shall be made based on combined merit prepared after considering 80% of qualification marks & 20% of interview marks.
- The date, time and venue for document verification would be intimated to the shortlisted candidates accordingly, in their email id registered on portal as well as on uploading details on Company’s website
- Candidate has to attend the document verification & interview on the date & time at MDL mandatorily, intimated by the Company.

- SC, ST & Divyang Category candidates are exempted from payment of fees
