MDS Apprentice – Detailed Eligibility:

Education Qualification:

Group “A”(10th Class Passed):

Draftsman (Mech.)/Electrician/Fitter/Structural Fitter:

• The candidate should have Passed SSC in with General Science & Mathematics
• Securing minimum 50% marks in aggregate for General / OBC / SEBC/EWS / DIVYANG/ AFC, ii) Pass Class for SC/ST Only. In case of passing criteria is best of 5 subjects taken,
• General Science & Mathematics Should be the Part of the Qualifying Board Curriculum & Candidate should have passed, Otherwise Application will be rejected.
• Though the qualifying criteria is SSC, the candidates with Higher qualification may also apply. However, eligibility will be based on SSC marks qualification only.

Pipe Fitter:

• The candidate should have Passed SSC
• Securing minimum 50% marks in aggregate for General / OBC SEBC/EWS / DIVYANG/AFC,
• Pass Class for SC/ST Only.
• Though the qualifying criteria is SSC, the candidates with Higher qualification may also apply. However, eligibility will be based on SSC marks qualification only.
• Deaf & Hearing Impaired (HI) category applicants will be considered in Pipe Fitter Trade only

Group “B”(I.T.I Passed):

Fitter Structural (Ex. ITI Fitter)/Draftsman (Mech.)/Electrician/ICTSM/Electronic Mechanic/RAC/Painter/(General)/Pipe Fitter/Plumber/Welder/COPA/Wood Work Technician/ Carpenter:

• Passed ITI in Fitter / Draftsman (Mechanical) / Electrician /ICTSM / Electronic Mechanic/ Plumber / Welder / Computer Operator & Programming Assistant / Carpenter or Wood Work Technician / Refrigeration and Airconditioning (RAC) trades from Govt./ Govt recognized Institute.
• Securing minimum 50% marks in aggregate for General / OBC / SEBC/ EWS / DIVYANG / AFC,
• Only Pass Class for SC/ST. Applicants undergoing their course under semester system are required to pass backlog papers of previous semesters if any & it should be dully certified by Head of the institute.
• Applicant should have passed ITI in above trades only, however in case of Fitter-Structural trade, applicants belonging to ITI Fitter Trade can apply

Group “C”(8th Class Passed):

Rigger/Welder (Gas & Electric):

• 8th Std. under (10 + 2) system Passed with Science & Mathematics.
• Securing minimum 50% marks in aggregate for General / OBC / SEBC/EWS / DIVYANG / AFC, ii) Pass Class for SC/ST Only. Though the qualifying criterion is 8th Std, the candidates with Higher qualification may also apply. However, eligibility will be based on 8th Std. qualification only

Training Period:

• Group “A”(10th Class Passed): 2 Years
• Group “B”(I.T.I Passed): 1 Year
• Group “A”(8th Class Passed): 1 Year, 3 Months

Age Limit (As on 01 October 2026): 

• Group “A”(10th Class Passed): 15 – 19 Years
• Group “B”(I.T.I Passed): 16 – 21 Years
• Group “A”(8th Class Passed): 14 – 18 Years

Age relaxation: Upper age limit relaxation will be given by 5 yrs. for SC/ST, 3 yrs. for OBC and 10 yrs. for DIVYANG as per Govt. Rules, Subject to submission of relevant Certificate issued by the Competent Authority.

Stipend:

• Apprentices will be entitled to a monthly stipend, leave, and holidays during Apprenticeship Training as per Apprentices Act

Selection Process of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Recruitment:

Online Examination (Computer-based test):

• Only eligible candidates in Group A, B & C will be called for Online Examination (Computer-based examination).
• The Online Examination will consist 100 Number of Multiple Choice questions based on the below-mentioned syllabus of the minimum qualification of respective Groups (i.e., Class 10th Pass for Group A, ITI Pass for Group B & Class 8th Pass for Group C), and the examination will be of 2 hours’ duration.
