Karnataka High Court Recruitment 2023 notification announced for the posts of District Judge. There is a total of about 14 vacancies available for the post. Candidates with the qualification of LLB are eligible to apply for the job. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online. The detailed eligibility and selection process are explained below.

The high court of Karnataka is located in Bengaluru, which is the capital city of Karnataka. The Karnataka high court currently functions in Bengaluru, Hubli-Dharwad, and Gulbarga, this high court is previously called as High court of Mysore. In the high court, the total strength of the judge is 62. Presently Abhay Shree Niwas oka is the chief justice of the high court. The main vision of this court is to give justices for the people.

Detailed Eligibility:

Educational Qualification:

District Judge:

  • Must be holder of a degree in Law granted by a University established by Law in India
  • Must be practising as an Advocate in the High Court or a Subordinate Court on the last date fixed for receipt of applications and must have so practised for a period not less than SEVEN years as on such date.
  • Note: Public Prosecutor/Assistant Public Prosecutor/Government Counsel in full-time employment of the State having not less than seven years of continuous practice immediately preceding the last date fixed for receipt of online applications are also eligible for appointment

  • SC/ST:ย 48 Years
  • Others:ย 45 Years

Age Relaxation: The maximum age limit is relaxed by three years in the case of Ex-servicemen candidates.

Selection Process:

  • The selection process will be a Competitive Examination:

Competitive Examination:

  • The Competitive Examination for recruitment of District Judges shall consist of 3 stages, namely (a) Preliminary Examination (b) Main Examination, and (c) Vivavoce

a) Preliminary Examination:

  • The Preliminary Examination shall be conducted through Objective Type Question Paper with multiple choices of 1ยฝ hours (Ninety minutes) duration consisting of 100 marks.
  • The syllabi for the said examination shall be the following:
    • Part-A โ€“ Civil Law.
    • Part-B โ€“ Criminal Law.
    • Part-C โ€“ General Knowledge (Test of reasoning and Mental aptitude)
  • The minimum mark for a pass in the Preliminary Examination shall be 50 for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and 60 for others

b) Main Examination: The Competitive Written Examination for recruitment of District Judges shall consist of:

  • Written examination of two papers each of three hours duration with 150 maximum marks for each paper โ€“ one in Civil Law and another in Criminal Law.
  • It is compulsory for all candidates to answer at least one of the papers in English language and in so far as the other paper is concerned, it shall be optional for the candidates to answer the same either in English or in Kannada in which event the said paper shall be answered entirely in the language in which option is exercised.
  • The minimum mark for passing each paper of the written examination
    • SC/ST: 50 Marks
    • Others: 60 Marks
  • However, the total marks to be secured for passing the written examination shall be 120 marks out of 300 for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe and 150 marks out of 300 for others.

c) Viva-Voce:



  • The viva voce shall carry a maximum of 50 marks.
  • The candidateโ€™s General knowledge, grasp of law principles and suitability for appointment as District Judge shall be tested.

    • SC/ST/Category-I:ย Rs. 500/-
  • Main Examination Fee:
  • Others:ย Rs. 1500/-
  • SC/ST/Category-I:ย Rs. 750/-

Payment Mode:ย The fee can be paid through online mode only i.e., Net Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card/UPI. Payment of fee by any other mode (challan payment) will not be accepted.
