session beginning in 2026 (DGFS-2026).

- Person with physical disability with extent of disability 40% or more will be considered for age relaxation and may be permitted a scribe.
Salary: Level 10 โ Rs. 56,100/- of 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix.
Selection Process for BARC OCES Scientific Officers:
- The Selection process for OCES/DGFS-2026 will be based on screening to shortlist candidates, followed by Selection Interviews of the shortlisted candidates.
- There is a separate two-stage selection process ( 1) screening on the basis of online exam or GATE score 2. Selection interview for each of the exam disciplines.
Screening for selection interviews is based on two alternative screening channels/ options:
On the basis of Online examination:
- Online examination will be conducted in March, 2026 in each of the eight Engineering disciplines OCES discipline (Codes 21 โ 28) and five science disciplines OCES discipline (Codes 41, 42, 43, 45 and 46) in more than fifty cities spread across India
- Applicants who register for the online examination will be allotted to one of the preferred examination centres chosen by them. A link will be provided to all the valid registered candidates to confirm their participation in online exam. Once they confirmย their participation the allotment will be done on first come, first served basis. Confirmation for their participation in BARC online exam (CBT) is mandatory for issuing the admit card.
- All candidates appearing for the BARC online examination will be awarded a BARC online examination score. Based on the performance of the candidates in online screening exam (Computer Based Test) would be screened in for selection interview on the basis of online examination score
- Travel Allowance is NOT paid for appearing in online examination.
On the basis of GATE score:
- Applicant, who meet all the eligibility criteria (for qualifying and pre-qualifying degree) as mentioned in the Section-4, and he/ she also chosen the GATE as screening option, would be screened in for selection interview on the basis of a valid GATE-2024 and/or GATE2025 and/or GATE-2026 score in the applicable GATE subject.
- Highest GATE score among GATE-2024, GATE-2025 & GATE-2026 scores will be considered for screening through GATE score
Selection interviews:
- Selection interviews of short-listed candidates will be conducted in Mumbai (in all disciplines except Geology & Geophysics) and Hyderabad (in Geology & Geophysics).
- Probable period of selection interviews is during May-June, 2026. Short-listed candidates will be able to choose an interview slot, based on availability, in April 2026.
- Final selection for the OCES/DGFS-2026 programme will be based solely on the performance in selection interview, subject to medical fitness.
- A list of provisionally (subject to medical fitness) selected candidates will be displayed on this website in last week of June, 2026.
Application Fee:
- Rs. 500/- is chargeable from the male applicants belonging to General and OBC categories.
- Female, transgender, candidates belonging to SC/ST, Dependents of Defence Personnel Killed in Action (DODPKIA) and Physically challenged candidates with extent of disability of 40% or more are exempted from payment of the application Fee.
