Indian Air Force AFCAT 01/2020/NCC Special Entry for the courses commencing in January 2021 for grant of for Short Service Commission (SSC) in Flying Branch and Permanent Commission (PC) and Short Service Commission (SSC) in Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branches with 249 vacancies. Candidates with the qualification of B.E/B.Tech/Any Degree can apply for this exam. Eligible candidates can apply for this post online before 30 December 2019. AFACT is  Air Force Common Admission Test conducted by Indian Force in National level. AFCAT will be conducted twice in the year for the recruitment of Flying Branch, Technical Branch, and ground Duty Staff under Indian Air Force. After the written test (AFCAT) result candidates are shortlisted based on the fixed cutoff for the further interview or personality test. The personality test will be conducted for 6 days with two stages of intelligence test, Psychological test, Group tasks, and Personal Interview. For all the three branches in the Air Force, both men and women can apply. While for Women Short Service Commission will be offered, for men both Short Service Commission and Permanent service will be offered. An individual can have a maximum of 16 attempts (2 attempts per year) while a total of 8 attempts for AFCAT written and 8 attempts through fast track selection entry.

AFCAT 2019 Detailed Eligibility:

For Flying Branch:

  • Minimum of 60% marks each in Maths & Physics at 10+2 level.
  • Graduates (Three Year Course) in any discipline from a recognised University who have attained minimum 60% marks or equivalent OR BE/B Tech (Four Year Course) from a recognised university with minimum 60% marks or equivalent.
  • Cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
  • Final Year students are also eligible to apply, provided they do not have any backlog at the time of AFSB Testing and produce Degree certificate issued by the University as per the date stipulated in the advertisement.

For Ground Duty (Technical):

Aeronautical Engineering:

  • After completion of Engineering degree or while in your final year/semester of Engineering
  • For both Men and Women. Permanent Commission (for men) / Short Service Commission (For men and women)
  • Marks – Must have scored a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in any one of the listed disciplines.
  • Final year students are eligible to apply provided they do not have any present backlog at the time of SSB testing and they produce provisional/ original degree issued by the University as per the date stipulated in the advertisement.

For Ground Duty(Non-Technical)

  • NCC Air Wing Senior Division ’C’ certificate and validity of the certificate would be two years before the date of advertisement.

Note: Candidates who are studying in the final year/semester Degree course and are yet to pass the final year degree examination can also apply provided candidate should not have any present backlog and should have secured a minimum of 60% marks upto the last semester/year for which results have been declared upto the time of submission of application.

AFCAT 2020 Physical Fitness Test:

  • Candidates should aim to achieve an ability to run 01 miles (1.6 km) in 10 mins, do 10 pushups and 03 chin-ups.
  • Prospective candidates are also advised to keep themselves in good physical condition to adapt to physical training at AFA which encompasses running, swimming, rope climbing and other forms of physical training/ conditioning in which they would undergo mandatory tests during training.

Pay Scale:

  • Flying Officer: Rs. 56,100 – 1,10,700/-
  • Flight Cadets shall receive a fixed stipend of Rs 56,100/- per month during last one year of training.
AFCAT 2020 Selection Process:
  • AFCAT written examination
  • Stage-I – Officer Intelligence Rating Test along with Picture Perception and discussion test
  • Stage-II – Psychological test, Group Tests and Interview would commence after document check for the next five days.
  • Medical Examination
  • An All India Merit List is compiled on the basis of your performance in the written test and AFSB interview, subject to being medically fit.

Examination Fee:

  • For AFCAT Entry: Rs.250/-
  • For NCC Special Entry: Not required to pay
