TNPSC Exams 2024: The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has announced a Special Competitive Exam notification for the Typist posts. Candidates with 10th qualifications are eligible to apply. There are 50 vacancies available for this post. Interested and eligible candidates can apply for TNPSC Exams online on or before 24 December 2024. The detailed eligibility and selection process for TNPSC Careers are explained below. Detailed Eligibility for TNPSC Special Competitive Examination:
Educational Qualifications:
Typist – Tamil Nadu Ministerial Service:
- Must possess Minimum General Educational Qualification
- Must have passed the Government Technical Examination in Typewriting;
- by Higher/Senior Grade in Tamil and English (or)
- by Higher/Senior Grade in Tamil and Lower/Junior Grade in English (or)
- by Higher/Senior Grade in English and Lower/Junior Grade in Tamil
- A pass in the Certificate Course in Computer on Office Automation conducted by the Technic
Notes:
- Candidates who possess a Degree (or) Diploma in Computer Science (or) ComputerEngineering (or) Computer Application (or) Information Technology (or) Software Engineering (or) Computing (or) Computer Information System (or) Computer Design approved by the University Grants Commission / All India Council for Technical Education / Directorate of Technical Education (or) an equivalent body shall not be required to acquire the Certificate Course in Computer on Office Automation.
- Candidates who do not possess a Certificate Course in Computer on Office Automation conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Tamil Nadu may also apply. If selected, they should acquire such qualification within the period of their probation or within two years from the date of appointment to the post, as the case may be
Age Limit (As on 01 July 2024): The candidates should have completed the age of 18 years and should not have completed 32 years
- BC (OBCM)s, BCMs, MBCs/DCs, SCs, SC(A)s and STs: BC(OBCM), BCM, MBC/DC – 34 years & SC, SC(A), ST – 37 years
- Others [i.e. candidates not belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BC(OBCM)s and BCMs]: Maximum Age (Should not have completed) – 32 years

Selection Process for TNPSC Special Competitive Exam:
- The Special Competitive Examination for the post of Typist in the Employment and Training Department will be conducted as single stage examination
- Onscreen certificate verification will be conducted before admission to the physical certificate verification
- Marks obtained by the candidates in the Written Examination would determine final ranking.
- The final selection will be made based on the total marks obtained by the candidate in Written Examination.
Scheme of Examination: Single Paper (S.S.L.C Standard):

- Part B of the answer sheets will be evaluated only if the candidate secures minimum qualifying marks of 40% (i.e., 60 Marks) in Part A.
- Total marks secured in Part-A and Part-B taken together will be considered for ranking.
- The questions in Part-A Tamil Eligibility-cum-Scoring Test will be set in Tamil only.
- The questions in Part B will be set both in Tamil and English
Application Fees:
- One Time Registration Fee: Rs. 150/- (Candidates should register only once in the One Time Registration, Successfully registered One Time Registration is valid for five years from the date of registration)
- Examination Fee: Rs. 100/-
- For PwD/SC/ST/Destitute Widow: Nil
- For Backward Classes: Three Free Chances
Mode of Payment: Candidates can pay the examination fee by online mode through Net Banking/Credit card/Debit card.
