NIV Recruitment 2024: The National Institute of Virology has announced notification for the Project Research Scientist-I/Project Technical Support-II/Project Technical Support-III position on a temporary contract basis. ICMR-NIV Recruitment
ICMR-National Institute of Virology, Pune, is a research Institute under the aegis of the Indian Council of Medical Research, Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India. The institute intends to engage the following Non-Institutional project human resource positions, purely on a temporary contract basis for our short-term research projects mentioned below:
- Project No.1- Country-wide tick surveys, human serosurvey and passive surveillance, immune Response, evaluation of vaccine candidate and prevention models for kyasanur forest disease (KFD)”.
- Project No.2 – “Understanding probable risk factors for Nipah virus spillover events in and around affected districts of Kerala”.
- Project No.03 – “Exploring the host-pathogen interaction, diagnostics, and therapeutics against the Kyasanur Forest disease virus”.
- Project No.04 – “Building a surveillance model for detecting zoonotic spillover in increased animal-human interaction setting using a one health approach: A study at selected slaughterhouses
The selection process will be based on Interviews. The age limit is 35 – 40 years. Candidates are offered a monthly salary of Rs. 20000 – 67,000/-. Educational Qualification:
Project Research Scientist-I:
- First Class Post Graduate Degree, including the integrated PG degrees in Microbiology /Veterinary Sciences/ Immunology/ Biotechnology with 3 years experience or PhD.
- Second Class Post Graduate Degree, including the integrated PG degrees, with PhD in Microbiology/ Veterinary Sciences / Immunology / Biotechnology and 3 years experience
- Desirable: Experience in laboratory animal experimentation and preclinical animal studies.
- Experience in flow cytometry techniques, Immunophenotyping, ELISPOT.
- Work experience in BSL-3 laboratories
Project Technical Support-II:
- 12th in science plus Diploma (MLT / DMLT /Engineering) plus 5 years experience in relevant subject /field
- Desirable: Experience in laboratory animal handling and sample collection.
- Hands-on experience in infectious sample processing, PCR and ELISA
- Experience in data management and proficiency in MS Excel.
- Experience in field surveys, collection of environmental samples and data collection.
- Hands-on experience in infectious sample processing, PCR and ELISA.
- Knowledge of computers and data entry.
- Knowledge of Malayalam (speaking) is desirable
Project Technical Support-III:
- Three years graduate in Life Science – specialization – Microbiology/ Biotechnology/Virology plus 3 years experience OR Post Graduate Degree in above subjects.

- Experience in PCR and ELISA techniques, sequencing, and bioinformatics tools.
- Experience in cell culture techniques.
