Detailed Eligibility โ Income Tax Department Recruitment:
Educational Qualification:
Tax Assistant (TA):
- Bachelorโs Degree from a recognized University or equivalent, and Data Entry Speed: 8000 key depressions per hour.
Stenographer Grade-II:
- 12th class pass or equivalent from a recognized Board or University;
- Skill Test Norms:
- Dictation: 10 minutes @ 80 words per minute.
- Transcription: 50 minutes (English) / 65 minutes (Hindi) (Only on Computers) where the speed of dictation is @80w.p.m. for 10 minutes either in English or Hindi medium.
Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS):
- Matriculation (10th pass) or equivalent from a recognized board.
Sports Eligibility:
Applicants should have represented:
- A State or the country in the National or International competition; or Medal winners in Junior National Championships; or Medal winners in Khelo India Youth Games (age category above 18 years); or Khelo India Winter Games; or Khelo India Para Games; or Medal winners in Khelo India University Games; or Medal winners in School Games Federation of India (SGFI) in any of the games/sports mentioned of this recruitment notice, or
- Their University in the Inter-University Tournaments conducted by the Inter-University Sports Board in any of the games/sports mentioned of this recruitment notice, or
- The State School Teams in the National Sports/games for schools conducted by the All-India School Games Federation in any of the games/sports mentioned of this recruitment notice.
Note: Only the sports achievements/participation of the candidates up to 31.03.2026 shall be considered.

- Stenographer Grade-II: Between 18 โ 27 years
- Tax Assistant (TA): Between 18 โ 27 years
- Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS): Between 18 โ 25 years
Age relaxation:
- As per DoPT O.M. No.15012/3/84-Estt. (D) dated 12.11.1987, the sportsperson may be allowed relaxation in upper age limit up to a maximum of 5 years (10 years in case of those belonging to Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes) for the purpose of appointment to posts specified.

Selection Process for Income Tax Recruitment:
- The applications received shall be scrutinized and eligible candidates will be shortlisted for further selection process
- The recruitment process for the posts of Tax Assistant and Stenographer Grade-II shall be conducted in two phases.
- In the first phase, eligible candidates shall be shortlisted, based on the option exercised for the post applied for, considering the particulars furnished in the application form and their achievements in sports/games.
- For the post of Tax Assistant, candidates equivalent to four times the number of vacancies shall be shortlisted for the second phase.
- Further, for the post of Stenographer Grade-II, 10 candidates shall be shortlisted for the second phase.
- For the second phase, the short-listed candidates shall be required to appear for the post- specific skill test at O/o the Pr. Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, 1st Floor, Aayakar Bhawan, Rajaswa Vihar, Bhubaneswar-751007 (at their own expense) as per the schedule provided.
- The list of shortlisted candidates for skill test along with the test schedule shall be published on the website www.incometaxindia.gov.in.
- The recruitment process for the post of MTS shall be in single phase.
- The selections shall be made as per the merit list prepared on the basis of their sports achievement.
- A waiting list comprising 10 candidates shall also be maintained.
- The final merit list will be prepared in accordance with the sports achievement scores as per the table mentioned in the official notification.
