Title of project: Evaluation of Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Sun-dried local mud brick of Ladakh
Project Assistant: Diploma in Civil Engineering or B.Tech in Civil Engineering with a CGPA above 6 (on a 10.0 scale) or a percentage greater than600/o aggregate, irrespective of category
Job description: The Project Assistant will be involved in research and development activities. The role is experimental and will require hands-on work to assess the performance and suitability of mud blocks for construction purposes for the unique climatic conditions of Ladakh (work location: IIT Roorkee). The candidate is expected to have:
- Basic knowledge of building materials with an emphasis on natural and earthen construction materials.
- Experience in experimental techniques for evaluating mechanical properties (e.g., compressive strength, flexural strength) and thermal properties (e.g., thermal conductivity, heat capacity) of construction materials.
- Ability to design and conduct experiments for material characterization, including preparing, testing, and analyzing samples in a laboratory setting.
- Experience in documentation of experimental research work
Duration: Initially for 5 Months which can be extended up to 12 months.
Salary details of IITR Recruitment: Rs. 25,000/- per month

Research Associate:
- M.A in Sociology/ Social Anthropology/ Anthropology/ Gender Studies/Development Studies from a recognized university.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD degree (awarded/submitted) in the above-mentioned disciplines
- Experience in collecting and analyzing both primary and secondary data (qualitative and quantitative) is required.
- Preference will be given to candidates having experience related to agrarian studies, resource extraction, and tribal studies.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and communication skills in English, Hindi, and Odia.
- A working knowledge of the Sambalpuri language will be an added advantage.
- Proficient in using computers for documentation, data analysis, and virtual platforms.
- Familiarity with the agrarian history of Odisha is desirable.

Duration: 3 Years
Job description: The project aims to develop a quantitative understanding of the effect of variable microstructure and process-induces defects on the fatigue behaviour of additively repaired titanium alloys. A Probabilistic P-S-N curve would be generated which can be used for the development of a mechanical properties database in the material-integration module. Basic knowledge of metallurgical aspects of material mechanics behaviour and fracture mechanics is required. Applicants should be able to work in an independent environment. Experimental skills like SEM, Optical microscopy analysis EBSD analysis and mechanical testing are preferable but not mandatory.
