Project Title: Local and global contact problems in elastic rods funded by SERB
Project Associate-I:
- B.Tech degree in Mechanics/Mechanical/Civil/Aerospace Engineering or allied areas
- A strong interest in solid mechanics is required.
- Candidates with an M.Sc. degree in Physics/Mathematics are also eligible.
Additional Skills:

Job Description:
A successful candidate will research contact problems in elastic rods. The scope of the research includes, but is not limited to, developing theories to solve for contact problems involving contact of elastic rods with self and external obstacles, developing numerical algorithms to construct solutions, and conducting table top experiments to validate predictions of the theory. The position is ideally suited for applicants with a background in solid mechanics, and a strong interest in theoretical and analytical work.
Tenure: One year appointment, with a possibility of extension for another year based on performance.
Salary:
- Rs. 31,000/- per month + HRA (if on-campus accommodation is unavailable) to Scholars who are selected through (a) National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE or (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions.
